Is there a maximum number of folders and images in a session before Capture One slows down?

It depends on computer hardware to a certain extent. With Canon files I notice a difference around 400-500 captures and depending on system config it might be nearly unusable by the time we hit 1000. But as far as how many captures you can put in a single folder, I have never reached any sort of actual limit, it is constrained more by what your system can tollerate than any hard coded maximum.
