Import images is steady followed by an action log with the message ‘unable scanning x media files’. This happens always on my desktop Windows 7 (64) Pro, Intel i7, 16 GB, 120 SSD HD and on my notebook Windows 7 (64) Home, Intel i5, 4GB. There was never a problem with Media Pro 1.2
The image follow up in Light table is also much slower on both computers. Each image started with a thumbnail followed by the full screen image.
Slide show changes images every second and it doesn’t react on changing the duration time.

I am so glad that i am not the only with this problem. If you want to use Light Table you have to check under : Edit-
thumbnail-prieviews-. Mark the small box ,Media previews-create full screen previews. choose the size and quality
you like ,than rebuilt them this will solve your problem for Light-previews.

I advised a friend to try MP. It was unfortunately MP 1.3 with the same problems as I mentioned above and yet more with Light Table.
I don't think he will buy it yet. Very pity but it doesn't work well. Media Pro is a very, very nice program but a miserable production.

    Hi,

has anybody created a ticket by PO for this issue?

I try to generate a Previews for my Catalog bur "unable to scan media". But if I try Action , Metadata Synchronize its work always perfect.

Media 1.3.1 is completely unusable to me, every time I open it it and browse my images it crash/hangs. Tiff files are not displayed and After updating the folder it seems Media Pro eats alot of memory, it always stating "Out of Memory" even though Im using 65 bit Windows 7 and I have a a 16 GB of DDR3 Ram.

So what other dam do you highly recommend as a good alternative for Media Pro, because I cannot afford wasting my time troublshooting Media Pro.

I doubt you find an answer on this forum but you could try the 'DAM book' forum:

It seems Expression Media 2 is more stable and faster than MP 1.3.1. I also installed the Media Pro version 1 which is stable... So PhaseOne, what have you done to this software to make it unusable and slow????

Yes. On both 10.6.8 and 10.7.4, MediaPro 1.3.1’s log window pops up on occasion, claiming it’s “unable to scan media files†even though said files have been added to the catalog either just now or, even more seldomly, ages ago.

The files in question then appear without a preview thumb in the catalog; right-clicking on it and “show file location†properly highlights the files in the finder where MediaPro thinks they are. So, they are there, MediaPro knows where they are, but it still can’t “scan†them.

I only have this behaviour every couple of weeks, and only with bitmap files (TIFF and JPEG), so it doesn’t bother me too much. It’s completely random, I can’t reproduce a case when this happens. I’ve only had “unable to scan†warnings with DNG if there was a rendered TIFF with the same filename (but other suffix, obviously) alongside. In this case, MP will refuse to scan both versions, DNG and TIFF.

I guess it’s a problem with the PhaseOne rendering setting in MediaPro; even CaptureOne sometimes refuses to open TIFF files. As I use MP mostly for its PhaseOne rendering, naturally I can’t switch to Vendor rendering.

New Catalog or existing? Can you create a support case so we can get the Test Dept/Developers to have a look?

I have the same problem on my Mac with RAW files.
Now I think I found what the problem is and how to resolve it.

For preview size I set 3200px. Media Pro can't generate previews for some images with this size (I don't know why). For some of then is possible to generate preview with size 2560 or 1920 but always it is possible with 1280px.
If you change the default to 1280 should it always work.
