Moving to C1

C1 has a camera profile for my Leica M9, which uses DNG as its RAW format. I prefer C1's processing to that of Lightroom, but they are close. Sounds like the DNG conversion is where the problem lies. With my M9-Monochrom DNGs, C1 applies a generic DNG profile, which I suspect is what you are seeing with your files. With the Monochrom I prefer Lightroom's preocessing.

Owing to current problems with Lightroom, there must be many others like me considering a move to C1. I am now half way through my trial. I am very impressed with the RAW engine and the sophistication of the editing features. I have two main reservations. First: lens profiles. C1 is somewhat limited in comparison to LR. It doesn't have one for the Canon 70-300 4-5.6L, which after all is an L lens, nor for the EF-S 15-85 which I used with my 7D, now sold, but I do need to edit the images from time to time. How frequently are new lens profiles added? Secondly, C1 doesn't play nicely with dng files. I have been in the practice of converting all my CR2 files to dng to save space. Sure, you can edit them, but C1 doesn't detect the camera that originated the file, nor the lens--you're given generic profiles. LR does; why not C1? I imagine this could be implemented quite easily. If Adobe's push for dng to be adopted as the RAW standard succeeds, more and more cameras will be using it.

I'd import the CR2 files to be honest. The RAW to DNG thing I think is a fudge for, and limitation of, Adobe products and isn't required in Capture One, so long as those files are supported. I also have DXO Optics Pro 10 and I wouldn't use DNG files in that either, unless that was what the camera itself produced.
