Thinking out loud
I'm just thinking out loud on this, and I want to make sure everyone understands that I really love CaptureOne. I've been a user since 2005, and can't think of any other processing software I'd rather use. Having said this, like most other current users, I am very frustrated with the bugginess of the current version.
Here's the part where I'm thinking out loud:
Like everyone else, when I shut down C1, it's take a bit to finally quit. To me, the likely cause of that would be that C1 has a bunch of background calculations going on. If that's the case, wouldn't that also cause so many of the slowness issues currently experienced by current users? Just a thought.

The two are not related. A lot of the "slow" issues reported to us in support cases, where customers provide us the documents we need, boil down to hardware and/or sick machines (particularly on mac). The software taking time to close is something that we see as a performance issue and are working on fixing it but it will take time.
Rest assured on a capable machine the software works quite well... yes we have things we can improve on but majority of those reporting speed related issues can get help from us though a support case to identify the issue.0 -

Drew,
I know there are published minimum Macintosh hardware specs, and they are not very high.
Is there a "recommended" hardware spec that would provide good performance?0 -

There's no one answer for that question as it depends on your workflow.
The easy answer is, the faster the system the better the performance but defining "good" performance all comes down to what you need the workflow to do. Personally, I use a MacBook Pro with a 2.66 i7, 8GB of RAM and an SSD drive. For my needs as a Photographer, this machine gives me "good performance".0
