Does C1 support IPTC data already in the raw file?

Jeff,
Apologies for the long delay with a reply.
It seems You are the 'Expert' here with all of your testing.
I'm not sure I understand your statement of 'assign variables for computed values' , and did not see this as feature by Breeze. ❓

In general, IPTC/EXIF/meta data fields are supported and can be edited in Capture One. The list of compatibility with cameras including Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Fuji, and Konica Minolta. Under Help> search IPTC; and charts showing data fields that are compatible with Capture One are available.
My experience with a Canon 10D shows me some of this information is within the RAW file and some data fields are on the accompanying .THM file. So what is the difference between a Canon .THM and a Breeze .THM? ... that appears to be a question.
This compatability seems to focus on camera type and not another software like Downloader Pro.
I will continue to seek more information on this.

Sincerely,

k d c

Keith,

This is maybe a bit off the subject, but one thing you mention intrigued me.

I have (so far in vain) tried to find out what information is contained in the Canon thm files. (I use a 10D)

I systematically discard the thm files. I find them messy to deal with and thy disturb my workflow and DAM process (Extensis Portfolio). I have not noticed that this causes any loss of metadata.

But from your post it seems that you have found some metadata that is in the thm but that is not in the crw.

What is it...? 🤓

I've loaded files with and without the .THM files.
For the 10D specifically it appears to only be the Color Space meta data.
I can't speak for the other camera models.

Interesting that data is in RAW and repeated in .THM
May be a good question (or manual check) as to why?

💡 any input appreciated,

k c

Here is a link to a pertinent statement by Chris Breeze about why the Canon .THM files are best kept rather than discarded:

Hope This Helps
