I have struggled with this for so long. Still is slow but makes it less stressful to have to keep switching back and forth. Ridiculous that it is not offered in the program already. They need to make it happen and stop making excuses or avoiding the whole issue altogether. More people need to know about this. It should be in included with the Phase one explanation of tethered your nikon using nikon capture.

Please post when you find a way to make the tethered even faster.

    Thanks again.

Phase are quite capable of producing the solution but Nikon wont legally allow it, so I suggest you point your criticism elsewhere.

I have not heard a definite response on Nikon being at fault but either way it is long overdue.

This is absolutely true. SDK's come with limitations of use. With Nikon, in order to use their SDK for tethering we must also use their SDK for image processing, and that we are not about to do. As I mentioned in another thread there is hope that we can bring tethered support to Capture One Pro 4, without having to sacrifice image quality.

    Hi Jon,

Then how does Bibble do it? AFAIK the Nikon SDK is still not UB for Mac so this argument may be best directed at Nikon.

Since I do not work for Bibble I can only speculate. Perhaps they choose to use Nikon's processing methods and algorithm, or perhaps their software architecture is set up such that Tethering is separate from processing and maybe therefore will work with Nikons legal restraints.

As I said previously we have an entirely new architecture in CO4 and this may allow us more flexibility with Nikon SDK in the future. We shall see.

With some help, I've finally worked it out. This script will allow you to use Capture One as if it actually supported tethered shooting with Nikon (almost). Gone are the days of having to bring nikon capture to the front and then bring c1 pro to the front.

    Here's the script:

    To use:
-save the above file to applications>applescript>example scripts>folder action scripts
-right click or control click the folder you want to capture to and enable folder actions. Then click attach folder action and browse to the location of the captureonenikon script and select it.
-go to system preferences>universal access and check the box next to enable access for assistive devices(you only have to do this 1 time ever)
-set nikon capture to download to the folder you've chosen
-Open that folder with capture one and when you push the shutter release it will auto refresh and advanced to the newest capture.

The only con with this is that it still relies on the dinosaur of a program that is Nikon Capture. Im working on a script that uses the little, yet powerful Image Capture, but its not user-friendly yet. If I can get that working, capture speed will be cut almost in half.

    thanks Chris!

    This is a great start...!
Hope you will be successful the rid of the dinosaur!

    cheers Nicolas
