I gave it a spin this morning. Unfortunately, Media Pro’s “Convert image†still swallows GPS data in EXIF for me. Otherwise, everything works fine (OSX 10.6.8).

I also still find it hard to understand why Convert doesn’t offer an option à la C1 to export into a preset color profile. Uploading unprofiled JPEGs to the web is fine, as most browsers will know what to do, but untagged TIFF to customers? I continue exporting images in C1. The alternative is to re-import my exports to Media Pro and then set the desired color profiles.

Please excuse my funky user name; seems as if the link between the databases (registered customers vs/ registered forum members) is a tad wonky.

    Cheerio,
    -Sascha

Check the last download option. The one with the PDF icon. 😉

Two hours ago i recieved the announcement via e-mail:

We are pleased to announce the release of Media Pro 1.0.1, a service release which addresses the most common bugs and issues experienced by customers.

The release includes the following fixes:
    - Fixed stability issues including crash when working with large JPEGs in Slideshow and on the Light Table.
    - Fixed Renderings bugs, including no full resolution TIFFs on Mac and missing PDF thumbnails on Windows XP.
    - Fixed a issue where a catalog upgraded from Expression Media 2 could not be saved.
    - Fixed a bug causing XMP sidecars not to be moved with the media files to which they belong.
    - Fixed importer issues
    - Fix a bug on Windows where sorting would not work.
    - Fixed readability issues caused by new UI color scheme.
    - Fixed a bug preventing XML data files to be created on Windows.
    - Fixed some EIP color management/rendering issues on Mac.
    - Fixed license issue on Windows appearing when Internet connection was lost.

Here are some first impressions for 1.0.1.

Seem like the strange start up crash is gone now. Good.

The spinning loading icon is readable now. Good.

The color for a missing item has been changed now. My collegue had a problem with the previous color so I will check with him in august if he finds this better. We have just started our vacations here.

But I think I found a bug/error regarding missing items. As I remember it a missing item was marked with red text also in the List view in Expression Media. All items in the List view are the same color now so no way of telling if something is wrong. This has to be fixed. I have used this a lot over the years as a way of finding problems.

That shouldn't come as a surprise since they mentioned the update would only address the bugs that were discovered after the initial release.

I'll have to download this and try it.
As far as I am concerned, the rendering speed - very, very slow -- is a bug.

It doesn't sound like it was fixed.

    the release notes say that the readability issue was addressed; is there any difference between 1.0.1 and previous? i find the software impossible to use; i have used "iview media pro" for years and love it but have been unable to use "media pro" at all because of the white on black lettering and the very confusing graphical design of the interface; in fact i fnd it very disturbing;

is there a way to change the interface to what it was before: a clear, readable, comprehensible, understandable black letter on white background? i want to use the updated version (any pdf's imported into the old iview cause it to crash) but CANNOT use it until they make it legible; legibility is the minimum one expects from a software interface

    do others have this problem?

    thanks

    Agree totally.
I continue to use IVMP, with black lettering on white background, easy to read and no nausea inducing orange.
Rendering of jpeg images remains very slow with an intermediate phase for a second or so of pixellation, again very off-putting.

Umm.. what do you think this means?
Fixed readability issues caused by new UI color scheme.

UI is still not readable.. hence my comment...

No they have not (at least on windows 7), have they had some kid in the basement working on this?

1.0.1 on W7 64bit, cannot see any improvement at all. Not buy now. Wait.

Plain doesn't work on my system.

Yet strangely the demo on my other computer does!

I keep getting an error -1712 which is an Apple Events error Time Out.

    Mac OS X 10.6.7

So search the knowledge base, for Media Pro failing to launch - Nothing
Search for Error -1712 - Nothing
Search for Media Pro - 10 hits

Judging from what I am reading it looks like I've bought an early Beta Build!

    Not Happy ☹️

So PhaseOne when is this going to be fixed, 'cause it isn't just limited to one or two users!

Can you post a Console log after this sort of crash?

Just been trialling 1.01 on W7 64 bit. Very little difference with 1:
-Pdf display hopeless- metadata stripped & only an icon display
-Catalogue info on the status bar still non existent, but seems to have acquired a nervous tic
-Sort By function still not working
-Legibility (or lack of) still identical to 1

Only thing to change that I can see is that I can now export to xml, although it is very slow.

Sorry PhaseOne, we still can't buy this product until until these issues are resolved.

Just to add a little balance... I'm now fine with MP

No crashes, I can read the spinning icon to see if files are still importing, speed is much better than ME was (or iveiw for that matter).

    Thanks

(submitted as a tech case, same after 1.0.1)
I've been using the upgrade since 6/30 and have to say it's very nice in every way except for the MOST important one.

I depend on IVMP/EM/MP to quickly review ingested images, by double clicking and reviewing as larger ones, as well as on the light table.

The render time is embarrassingly unacceptable, about 3 pixelated seconds to switch from image to image. I reported it as did others in the forum. In slide show mode there is NO render delay. But it's less than ideal since the histogram can not be viewed, nor is it easy to tag, and impossible to view multiple images to compare.

Can't stand it any more, especially to review images with clients. I did a 20 gb shoot yesterday with tons of similars, and literally can't review my work. I am going back to Expression Media until you guys fix this.

Hoping a fix is already in final testing...
    Lynne

White-text on grey backgrounds are always difficult to read and especially so on a small MacBook. The white-text-on-grey-background for CAPTION is IMPOSSIBLE to read. Makes the program useless to me, alas. I miss iView.
