Canon 1Ds 2 files and sharpening?

I seem to not be getting sharpening when i process my files...my preferences for sharpening are not disabled..and when i go to process even if i bump up the sharpening all the way on both sliders there is no sharpening visible...
is this a bug or am i doing something wrong...

  Something is amiss here... I tested the same image and get sharpening to work.
  
  At the Focus tab, when adjusting the Sharpening settings, do you see those changes reflected in the Focus View display?
  
  What is set as your Preview Cache location? ...and do you have full read/write access to this location?
