Problems importing from CF cards in 8.2.2

This definitely seems out of the ordinary.

The only suggestions I have are to a) make sure you've got OpenCL disabled (even if it was disabled, when you did the downgrade it may have flipped back on) and b) rename your session file to session.old, create a new session in the same directory structure and try again.

If that doesn't do anything for you then it's time to create a support case -

    Good Luck!

I am using a MacbookPro OS 10.10.3 . I upgraded to C1pro 8.3 but since the star rating system is broken, I decided to downgrade to 8.2.2.
Now, if I shoot tethered, everything works fine. I can go through my folders with no problem.
If I shoot to card and import them through Capture 1, all looks good until I want to revisit folders previously shot to card. Capture1 has to generate previews EACH and EVERY time I view a folder that I shot to card. Very time consuming and annoying. Anyone experiencing the same and any solution for it?
    Thanks

Are you talking about OLD FOLDERS here - imported with an earlier C1 release or 8.3 folders you are trying to use with 8.2?

No the folders are all from yesterday . All shot in 8.2.2. The weird thing is that if I shoot tethered into a folder , C1Pro will generate previews ONLY once, and whenever I revisit that folder, there is NO need to generate previews again.
BUT if I import photos from a CF card into another folder, each and every time I go to that folder (later in the day etc) C1Pro starts to generate previews again
Check this video if you feel like:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ymqc7qcp61z9p ... o.mov?dl=0
Some folders are named "tethered" and when I view them , CaptureOne does NOT generate previews
Some are named "shot to card" and you can see CaptureOne generating previews again and again.
In real life each folder would have 400 frames and tis slows down the editing and makes my laptop work extra hard.
    MacBook Pro 2.8Ghz, 16Gb RAM, 1T SSD, OS 10.3.3 and C1pro 8.2.2
I have clean reinstalled several times with NO improvement.

Please contact support on this issue. Might need R&D to look at it.

    Paul,
I did contact support and got some simplistic advice from the Asia Support Team: Go to Preferences and set previews to a smaller size, move the files to a different folder....this is not a bug.... etc.

The ONLY thing I have not done yet is to: cmd killall -u$USER in Terminal because I do not have experience in Terminal and do not want to create a bigger problem. It would be a great help if Phase or the Alchemist posted a video showing how to properly clean re install in Yosemite. Or even better write a script we could run.

    Hi Matador,

When I read your initial post properly, the issue began when you reverted from 8.3 to 8.2.2. If that is the case, I suggest to do the following.

    step 1 (optional but recommended)
Login into another user account that has not been used with CO 8.3, and if you do not have one, create one. Import images from CF and so on. If this solves the issue, you can go to step 2 (or go directly to step 2)

    step 2
Open Disk Utility and run a permission repair and disk verify. You do this regularly, don't you? 😉
If not, please do from now on, at least after each OS X update.

    step 3
Perform a clean install according to instructions in KB 1167 (https://www.phaseone.com/en/Search/Arti ... nguageid=1)
In particular step 6, the instructions in Terminal is paramount. Follow the instructions below the screenshot. This will be your first experience with Terminal, so all the best. You can copy/paste the text from the webpage into terminal window.
Actually, I would start with this step before doing the entire removal, as it may be successful all the same. If not, follow the entire list of steps of the article and including step 6.

    step 4
After you are all setup again with CO 8.2.2 installed (if you removed it), create a new session and try again.

    Paul,
I think you are right about the 8.3 to 8.2.2. being the problem here. I have a bit of "Terminal" fear.... it feels like I am about to destroy my OS system.
If I make a new user admin account and delete my old one that used to have 8.3 and then use 8.2.2 in the new account, I should be good, correct?
    thanks

Just create a new account. Deleting any account is not necessary to begin with. Accounts are not interfering. The new account is just for diagnosing the issue.

Regarding admin level privileges: do never use them for regular work, only for administrative tasks. Using an admin level user for day-to-day tasks caries much more risk then using Terminal with a predefined command in the user context where no admin level is necessary.
