C1 8 and C1 9 trial

Could someone kindly walk me through the best way to try this set up.

Currently run C1 8 on latest MAC. I would like to try C1 9 trial and not overwrite C1 8. I would like to try a couple of the newer options but with all the bugs, don't wish to quite commit to loosing 8 yet !

Do I just download C1 9 and not overwrite C1 8 when installing ? Will my catalogue appear in 9 or do I import this into 8, thus having two catalogues on the HD ?

My catalogue is backed up to HD & NAS. All photo's are on the main HD on the MAC.

  that is exactly what I do, running Trial version 9 besides version 8 (not overwriting). when first loading v9 it loads the catalogue and converts it to v9. Existing images (i.e. those already touched with v8) must manually be converted using v9 engines (within color tab), but that can be done with multiple files selected. No problem so far, everything works fine.

  Create a backup of you v8 Catalog before converting it to v9. CO8 can't open a v9 catalog
