Catalog to Session
Hello,
after many years using C1 Express 4 to 5, I upgraded to 7 last year and had to move from my former session workflow to the catalog worklow.
With the current 50% deal, I finally bought a license of C1 Pro 7.
I would like to go back to the session worklow.
The main difference for me is where the settings file are saved:
a) in a global directory for workflow
b) in sub folder of the picture directory for session.
b) allow a much easier manual move and backup of my files, with no hard link to the catalog (e.g process my pict on my SSD, and when done move them on my HDD).
With the main big catalog, every time I exit, it is many GB to be written back for backup. Annoying and useless.
So how can I easily revert from the "catalog" to "session" where all settings will be copied in the sub folder of their source files? I don't see any simple solution here!
I see current possible work around:
1) for each folder, "export originals" can save the settings as well. Long process to be done for every folder!!
2) just let the backup as it is for the current catalog, and create a new catalog, or new session.
Any better and easier solution?
A tool which just read the pathes in the catalog and make a backup of the settings in the corresponding folder should be quite easy to do, when we know how to read the catalog file!
All in all, the catalog concept is not bad and have some advantages over the sessions. Just the way it is stored bother me. The flexible sub folder solution was one of the reason I initially chose C1 over LR, never liked its big database...

Hi,
I think the easiest way for you can be install a Media Pro trial version. Then export C1 Catalog to Media Pro Catalog.
Then close Capture One and create a new Session and export Media Pro Catalog to Capture One Session.0
