Cannot store files in current location? WHY NOT?
I'm new to Capture One 10.X for Mac and having trouble importing in place. I am using the Sony-only version.
I first import my RAW files onto an external hard drive. I want the Import command to look at all the photos in a given folder on that external drive and add information about them to the catalog, but I don't want C1Pro to store the photos themselves in the catalog, just thumbnails and metadata.
This lesson at Lynda.com shows the procedure that I wish to follow:. You have to have an account at lynda.com to see this unfortunately, but here is a screenshot: https://s3.amazonaws.com/zabouti-east-000/server/017-07-30-C1Pro10-support-req/2017-07-30-C1Pro10-lynda.png
But when I try to do what I believe is the same thing, I get the error: Cannot store files in current location. Would you like to import into the catalog instead?

There is no explanation about WHY it can't store the already stored files in their current location.
I do not want to import the photos into the catalog. I want what C1P calls a reference catalog.
Can anyone see a wrong setting or think of some other explanation for my problem?
I believe that I have proper write permission in the external drive. I can certainly create files there:
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please make a case via the link in my profile and include your logs, which you can gather into a .zip via Scripts > File Packager. 0 -
Thank you very much. I've submitted a support request with the logs (a very cool feature). I pasted in a markdown file, and the site seems to have stripped out the left brackets, but you've already seen the same thing in this forum.
Hope you can find the problem!

Thanks. I also encourage anyone else with this issue to create a case as well. 0 -
