DNG support?
Hi.. I was hoping to start using Capture One 6 as my RAW image editor.. currently, I convert my NEF's to DNG using Adobe converter (latest version). I tried to import some images from a folder of DNG's and they would not appear... am I doing something wrong?
What about DNG's that are converted using Adobe Converter but then run through Optics Pro 6 and re-saved as DNG?
Thx!

yes, you are converting original raw files to DNG... keep original .NEFs and be a happy C1 user... even Eric Chan from Adobe Labs is keeping his .NEFs0 -

DxO will make linear DNG - even worse case...0 -
Yes.. but I'm unable to open the files that were created using Dxo Optics in C1... that's the problem.. are these supported? 0 -
I was hoping DNG would work on co6 and even if xmp could read adobe I would happy with, I give up. 0 -

No, because they appear to be Linear DNG, as the other poster acknowledges, and CO6 (and earlier) does not support Linear DNG, only RAW DNG.
The confusing part of DNG is that it is not as straightforward as Adobe want us to believe. This causes a lot of confusion among users.0 -

Which is exactly why I'll stick with CR2 files. I trust Canon a heck of a lot more than I do Adobe.0 -
I gave up on the DNG format, How do you get XMP to read with other XMP ? or can it. 0 -
The only reason why I like DNG is because I like having all instructions, metadata, etc inside the single file. Since I use Idimager as my DAM product - it makes things nice and easy to have the metadata available and DNG previews update when edits are made in LR...
I guess I need to play around and see if C6 will update the embedded NEF preview so Idi can see the changes.. otherwise, I guess I can't use Dxo as a first pass... which is a shame - wish C6 could deal with linear DNG's.... LR can! Thx again for the help...0 -

C1 will not alter anything inside your .NEF... and if it will - you can log a bug report.0 -

why do you think DxO itself can't digest linear .DNG as its input ?0 -

Well.. that's a shame and it means I will stick with LR and DNG's for now.. having the embedded preview show the actual changes is critical for me... what's the point of making changes to your negative and not being able to see them in your DAM program?? Guess if you don't use C1 for everything... you can't see your changes? Not good IMO.. thx for the confirmation..0 -

Canon makes Cameras, and until Adobe does I would agree wholeheartedly with this trust. 😄0
