C1 LE, from RAW to JPG. Best settings?

Hello,

I have a Canon 300D. I would like to use C1 LE to develop my raw files into JPG's for print and web use.

I do not want to use Photoshop or any other tweeking software after the RAW conversion. I just want C1 to do the best job possible at creating the JPG's.

What would be the best Preference settings for me to use?
Any other tips?

    In LE you have the option of using QuickProofs under the Collection pulldown, or to set image parameters at the Process tab. Typically images for web site display are sRGB color space and resolution of 72. To print JPEGs it would depend on your lab's criteria, or if printing in-studio - your printer recommendations. If disk space is a non-issue the Highest quality setting JPEG will give great results. Most labs are printing between 250 - 300 resolutions, 8-bit image which is the same for inkjet printing. The Adobe RGB 1998 is the color space prefered most for printing. These choices can be set in the Workflow > Show Color Management settings window. Once set, be sure the Process setting of Convert to destination is selected.
    And of course do some testing and image analysis to help make your decision. Hope this helps.

    The 'Quickproofs' option does not take into consideration any of the WB or exposure adjustments, correct?

    Assuming thats the case, I would use the 'Process' tab approach and create 2 jpgs:

    one for web viewing
    high-quality
    resolution of 72
    sRGB color space

    one for printing
    high-quality
    resolution of 300
    Adobe RGB 1998 color space

    Does this sound like a good approach?

    As long as the boxes for Apply Color Management and Embed destination profile are checked in the QuickProof window, your image adjustments will be applied to QuickProof images.

    Your workflow looks good and you will have more control over output. However, using LE you will have to set image quality for Print image and then again for Web image, i.e. 300dpi, HighJPEG, set Convert to Destination; and load images to Batch queue. Then you need to switch settings to 72dpi, Convert to Web Destination; and add to queue and then process. Not a lot of work really, but you will decide this. Keep in mind if all are Processed from tab, then they will arrive in Develops subfolder and you will have 2 JPEGs per image with Name.jpg and Name-1.jpg QuickProofs develop as 72dpi and arrive into a subfolder named QuickProofs.

    Hope this helps you establish your workflow.

    Hi Keith,

    would you please tell me where to find this "Workflow" you mention? I'm getting very frustrated--can't convert to sRGB from C1, it just seems to blindly assign the profile. I use a Mac.

    Menu at top-left:

    'Workflow>Show Color Management Settings'

    Now when you convert from the 'Process' tab, you select the appropriate color-space conversion from the \"color management workflow' drop-down list . This list and the CM settings in the Workflow menu are directly related.
