Filter Search Problems
Hi
Using C1V7.16
During outdoor photography I always bracket and often shoot exposure compensation -0.3 to preserve highlights.
Of course the initial exposure is almost always the correct file to use but it is nice to have the plus and minus exposures just in case of shadow or highlight problems that are beyond the reach of the initial exposure.
So when using C1 I dont need to view all the images shot, just the primary or initial exposure. I have found the best way to accomplish this is using Filter-Advance search (EC)exposure compensation = 0.0 and then giving those images a low star rating to get the work flow going.
Problem is this:
First, when you try to put a (negative) -0.3 into the search criteria the software will not accept the negative sign (-) it keeps changing it back to a zero (0).
You can get around this by typing in (in my case) a 3 and then adding the Negative sign (-) and the decimal sign (.).
Secondly, the software will not preform this search even though the -.03 is clearly shown on the file information. I thought this was maybe because technically the camera is shooting at -1/3 exposure. I tried -.033 and -0.3333 However nothing I tried changed the failing outcome. I also tried using greater than or equal to negative point four (-.04). In this case it found all the images with EC of -.03, 0.0, .07, etc. From these results I infer that it is indeed the rounding of 1/3. So, even when the EC shows .3 the file number may be some long string of .3 decimal spots- .3333333333 to who knows what.
My suggestion for fixing this is that the advance search included criteria of "less than" and "equal to or less than".
I suppose there are other gyrations and hoops I could jump through including looking at every single image, as well as the obvious but ridiculous solution of not bracketing.

This works great and

Ok
So fiddling some more I tried a second search criteria using "Smaller" That is does the trick. I just didn't register "Smaller" the same as "less than". Might be a good idea to use similar language in the search presets. I don't see a "larger" either.
