3.7.4 is SLOW!!!!
I'm running 3.7.4 Pro on a Dual 2.5 G5 with 7 GB of RAM using a P45/H1 set up.
The shooting speed seems OK at best but the images take forever getting to the computer and drawn on screen.
I've just been telling clients it because of the large file size of the P45 but I know it's the software now because I shot the P45 into one of our slower computers that usually stays in the office that is still running 3.7.3 and there are none of these problems.
What's the deal??!!
Please repost 3.7.3 installer until the problem is fixed for non intel based macs.
Thanks,
Timothy Murray

I have had the same problem. G5 Quad 3.7.4 H1/P45. The Previews are taking 15 to 20 seconds to draw. I have had to go back to the 3.7.4 RC which will expired today. I have just reinstalled 3.7.3. I am on a 15 day advetising job, with art directors watching my screen as the images come in. It is embarassing how slow CaptureOne has become.
When I use the Activity Monitor to monitor how CaptureOne utilizes the processors I have noticed that 3.7.4 no longer uses the processors symmetrically.
I love the fact that PhaseOne wants to be in the forefront of the migration from PowerPC to Intel, however this should not harm C1pro on PowerPC. PhaseOne please understand that Universal software should work at its full potential on both Intel and PowerPC.
Thank you--

I am having the exact same problem. I have a dual 2.5 G5 with 4 g of ram and the previews never took this long to load. It makes me not even want to look at the images they are taking so long. Is there a cache or something to empty that could possibly speed things up? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. 0 -
HELLO!!!! WHERE'S THE RESPONE TO THIS POST FROM PHASE ONE!!!!!!!!!

This is a user to user forum, to get quick response from phase one go to http://support.phaseone.com and create a support case.
In Capture One 3.7.4 image handling has been slightly changed.
When using a P45 make sure you have firmware 2.2.0 to optimize performance.
What has done is that Capture handling and Preview has been seperated so preview generation does not affect capture speed. This means that preview will show up slower however you should gain over all capture rate. This is a direct respons to customer requests.
This should of course be optimized even further.0 -
I just received my P30 and the slowness of the previews is killing me. Most of the time for jobs the only reason you shoot tethered is so the client can watch. If they can't see the previews in a timely manner, then you might as well shoot to a card. And C1 seems to want to stop processing previews at all when there are other processes going on.
Also, Is it normal for 3.7.4 to be using up 100-180% of my CPU on a dual 2.5 G5 when processing images? I have only used the P20 in 3.7.3 and I can't believe the difference would be that significant.0 -
The amount of CPU power is irrelevant when it is done with a lower priority so it will not affect any other fuctions on your computer, simply using as much available CPU there is.
Try using 3.7.3 http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Downloa ... veMac.aspx
Does this work better for you? If so I will bring this forward to R&D.0 -
Here is the response to my support case:
I’m sorry to hear that you think that Capture One 3.7.4 is not performing as you are expecting.
We have made some improvements to the way the previews is generated, so if you are shooting in rapid succession the preview generation is held back allowing for faster transfer between the P 45 and Capture One, when the transfer has ended the Capture One software will continue to generate the previews. So it appears that the 3.7.4 software performs slower than the 3.7.3, but actually it is transferring faster.
You can always download “old†versions of firmware and software from our software archive, found under download and software archive on our website.
I hope this has explained why the software appears to perform slower.
Best regards
Phase One Customer Support
Phase One needs to understand the nature of digital shooting. Clients want and expect to see the files appear quickly after the shot is taken. Just like with previous versions of the software. Sacrificing preview speed for capture rate is not acceptable. This needs to be addressed with the 3.7.4 update.0 -
I feel exactly that too. I want to check the preview immediately. And since the screen on the back is not showing detail we have to shoot tethered.
I ask this again, Why havent P1 equipped their new backs with video out ?0 -
that is very odd... cannot relate to your problems...
I have a P25+H1
and performance has never been better....
As a computer I use only a Powerbook 12\" with 1.5 GHz and only 1.25 gigs of RAM...
the previews show almost instantly...
cheers Nicolas0 -
Very slow.............We have been shooting on location on a P45 with Capture One 3.7.4 and after 2/3 frames each image takes 30 seconds to download into our laptop, G4 1.67ghz + 2gb ram.
Shooting on cards means we shoot at about 1 frame in 3 seconds but the images take ages to download from the cards.
We are going to try 3.7.3 but does this work with a P45 ?
