DNGs from Lightroom 4 / ACR 6.7 do not render in MP
I took some old DNGs and updated them in Lightroom 4. Going back to Media Pro, the preview fails to load (full-size, anyway; a small thumbnail is generated.) When trying to view the DNG('s embedded preview) in the Media tab, it only shows the thumbnail.
The issue I think is with a new DNG feature called "Fast Load Data" than, when checked (by default it is), enables the file to be read much more quickly by Adobe applications. Adobe claims the DNGs are still 100% backwards-compatible, but obviously Media Pro is having an issue with it. All other DNG settings were identical; I ran some tests and isolated this Fast Load Data.
Would love to see MP issue a quick update for this, along with other media rendering issues introduced since EM2 (in EM and IVMP DNGs could be viewed in Media tab very quickly and scrolled through at lightning speed; in MP the process is prohibitively slow). If MP could even use the Fast Load Data (or any other DNG features) to its advantage, more power to it!
If not, the direction things are going, I am likely to use MP less and less and LR more and more for cataloging, even though LR isn't optimized for that. LR is advancing so well and so quickly and MP so slowly and so poorly (in my opinion it's still worse than EM which itself had little/no substantial improvement over IVMP) that I'm getting ready to give up on it altogether.
Thanks!
Cory

I failed to mention that for the time being I have disabled Fast Load Data (so I can still see current versions and full-size previews of my files in MP), but I'm REALLY looking forward to taking advantage of it for my LR workflow, so... the clock is ticking. 😊

Hi PO,
It's been over 18 months since these posts, and the same bug persists. Please update your software to be fully DNG compatible. I feel like I'm the only one left who's still trying to make MP a useful part of the workflow...
Thanks,

I just updated to 1.4.1 and have been converting my images to DNG.
I have imported 10,000+ dng images and as the previous poster noted, the "fast load data" basically means that the MP views are useless. Even re-building the preview does not work.
So I have 2 choices.
1. re-build all my DNGs (but I deleted my CR2s)
2. Stop using MP
Come on Phase One, you can do this. I believe in you.0
