Activating Capture One 4 on a new computer
My computer that I used CO4 on died. I bought a new computer, but cannot get CO4 activated on it. I just put in a request for help to user support. It looks like I have to get a new key for my new computer. If anyone has had this problem, let me know if I'm correct in thinking that I have to be supplied with a new key to activate CO4 on my new computer.
Thanks.

For CO 4, you can de-activate existing installations - even defunct ones on non working computers -using the Phase one web site.
I think all the information you need is at http://www.phaseone.com/home/Content/Su ... nguageid=1
Be warned however, that this will de-activate *all* CO 4 installations associated with a particular license key so you may have to re-activate any other working installation that you might have.0 -
Thanks Wade for your reply. I apparently am doing something wrong because I have tried what you suggested several times. After de-activating, I opened CO4 and went through the process of re-activating. I get the messaged that the software was re-activated, but when I load files they have the "eye" which means they cannot be processed. From this description, do you see anything I'm doing wrong?
Thanks.

The 'eye' is usually a sign that either the file viewed is not a raw file (e.g. its a jpg or a tiff file) or the folder that it resides in does not allow file writing. The latter can often happen if you copy files off of a backup CD or DVD.
I think that there have been a number of other threads discussing the reasons why the 'eye' appears. You might try searching.
The 'Licence Information' entry in the 'Help' menu will tell you whether you have successfully activated CO4.0 -
Thanks Wade for helping me understand the meaning of the eye icon. I thought it meant the the file was not a RAW file. I discovered from your comments and support from the Phase One technical staff that I had successfull activated the software on my new computer. The files that I was trying to process were read only. I had not intentionally made them read only, but I suppose that the backup process made them read only as you suggested. I aslo did a search, as you suggeste, on the eye icon. Other had had the problem that I had too. This forum was very helpful, as well as the Phase One, technical staff. I think CO4 is a great product and I'm glad that there are people like you and so many others willing to help users get past problems.
