Cant tether 1DSmk2 to 6.2
Its giving me an error code saying unspecified error cannot connect etc. I can however operate the capture release through the app but it will not pull in a capture. Im an original Lightphase user so Ive been around Capture One since before capture one if you catch my drift. Meaning I know my way around this software very well and have done all the connection protocols numerous times in various configs to attempt to rectify this on my own but Im not getting anywhere.
Also how does one create a support case? I recently upgraded studio hardware only to find out my beloved 3.x Capture One is not compatible with Snow Leopard how thoughtful of you for us lifers who were happy with it. Any help is most appreciated. Thanks
Mike

Hi,
Details on making a case can be found in the FAQ on the support home page
http://www.phaseone.com/Search/subjecta ... ubjectid=70 -
No, you can't tether a 1Ds mkII to CO Pro 6.2. I assume you have Pro and that you're not running in DB mode (because you come from Lightphase). You can find details in the release notes of CO 6.
The last version of CO that supported the Canon 1Ds mkII for tethering was CO Pro 5.2.1. You can run this on Snow Leopard, IIRC. You can activate CO 5 with your CO 6 key.
You setup is a typical example of out-of-sync technologies as I may call it. Apple has evolved with OS X, Phase One keeps up with newer version of CO, and Canon drops support for older cameras in the development kit which Phase One builds tethering on.
You either update all components in the chain or maintain an older system for your camera with a previous generation software. I understand from a user's point of view that this kind of incompatibilities are virtually invisible and surface unexpected, but it is a fact of life and you will have the same situation with your camera you buy today, within a few years ahead.
But today, you can get away with CO 5.2.1, but it is a close call (that is that I would prefer CO 6 on Snow Leopard).0 -
Well to say thats abysmal service is an understatement. 6.2 supports countless junk box point and shoot cameras but it doesnt support the TOP SLR system from just a few years ago? Guys come on...
The only reason I tried to upgrade the software was because 3.7 wasnt supported on my new camera cart machine. I shoot mainly product and lifestyle and havent needed more than the 16 mp of the mk2 which I keep in pristine condition so I see no reason to upgrade "just because" I simply wanted the better display of the new iMac as my older duo core was getting a little tired looking. Thankfully I havent sold it yet I spent last night until 2am restoring it and re-installing 3.7 after I had wiped the drive the day prior to prep it for sale. So now it seems I have a brand spanking new i5 iMac collecting dust
5.2.1 would be fine I was pleased enough with 3.7 as I tether practically every shot I take and I only need capture and colour balance tools etc I dont use all the extras anyways. But tethering is absolutely mandatory for me. I hope there is a solution I will start a case and see how it goes.
I have to say though Im very surprised. Considering I've been there with Phase since the beginning and oft praised their excellent quality and service this catches me quite off guard. Besides that there is no practical reason not to support the mk2 other than holding a gun to the heads of guys like me who dont want to buy new gear but forcing us into buying new gear. THAT is completely unacceptable0 -
You entirely missed the point. But that can happen. There is nothing wrong with either your camera or Capture One. You should address your envy to Canon as they deliver the software for 3rd party developers to use. I am sorry that my post was not clear enough or you were temporarily in a state that you could not digest the details. No problem. Maybe you want to read it again later.
By the way, we talk tether support, not raw support.
I think that in your situation CO 5.2.1 is a much better choice than 3.7, but you decide. My point is that you can read your CO 5 adjustments and sessions in a later version of CO, but 3.7.x is a dead-end-street.0 -
Try tethering with EOS utility and then using C1s hot folder feature to set up a pseudo tethered solution. 0 -
My Canon 1DSmk2 shoots thetered on 6.2, no problem at all?!
Maybe it's a cable problem (thetered problems are in 90% connection problems, like FW busses or cables)
good luck!0 -

Just to clarify, the 1DS Mark II is NOT supported in the latest Canon SDK. There is no ambiguity in that regard.0
