counting selected files

When I select multple files I would like to know how many are selected. Is there a way to do that?
I expected a status bar similar to Windows explorer, but don't see any.

  Bottom right hand corner, it tells you how many are selected,in this case 35.

  Your screenshot shows exactly what I was hoping to see on my screen. But the bottom bar on my window is blank!
  However, after seeing your answer, I took a closer look at my screen and...the text is faintly there, but white on nearly-white, which is impossible to read!
  
  I poked around the program, but can't find a way to change it. There is an option for font color which affects the text under the slides, but not on the info bar.

  [color=#BF0000:1zwk0zut]I went around the problem by switching Windows desktop color theme from "Windows classic" to "Windows XP".
  Voila!...the status bar in MediaPro is now black with white letters, instead of white on white.[/color:1zwk0zut]
