OpenCL Performance Problems

I am still testing C1 as a replacement for Aperture.
In 8.2, after turning on, I went into serious performance issues. For instance if drawing a mask, it is just painfull slow.
Turning OpenCL off speeds everything up. This is something I can not really understand.
My Computer is in iMac 27" Mid 2010. Its graphics card is a ATI Radeon HD 5750 which supports the newest openCL standard.

Any idea why using openCL is so slow? I expected the opposite...

  Just as an info for all other here:
  
  Support gave me the info that my GPU is too slow. So thats why I have to disable OpenCL support.
  Makes sense, but could be auto evaluated.

  For my Windows PC the GPU card performance is assessed at start up and discarded as being too slow to make any sense using it.
  
  I would guess that some cards just fit on the edge of usefulness and might work with some image files better than others. Comparison with the CPU and trying to make a decision about using or closing the GPU could be difficult unless all other applications could be locked out. I doubt people would accept that.
  
  There are probably too many variables and unknowns involved to make more that very approximate call about including or excluding borderline GPU performance.
