Don't change the interface in version 4 Capture one !
Having just had a discussion with three other users in the pub we are all of the opinion that version 4 should have least have an option to work with the existing interface. We all like the way it works as is. The screen shots we've seen makes it just like other programs. Why mess with an interface that users are used to and works! 🙄

One of the main things with Capture One 4.0 is to uniform the Mac and the Windows version. The two version are completely different in layout and some what in functionality also file settings is not platform compatible.
We will take the best out of the two layouts but in this case Windows version will merge more towards the Mac version then vice versa.0 -
Given that I can't begin to use the Capture One software until the DNG format is supported, so I'll have to start from scratch, and given the fact that the number of Windows users is vastly higher than the number of Mac users, I'd vote for a standard Windows interface. I think this would win you many friends. 0 -
While Windows users may out-number Mac users 9 to 1 in the "real" world; you are forgetting this is the world of artists and other creative types. If you have a look at the number of topics on this forum in the Windows vs. Mac specific areas you'll see that 900% advantage gives way to only 30% more posts. That is a huge disparity.
I only have a registered version of Capture One running on a Windows desktop. But I have tried the 30 day trial on my Mac Book. (Aside: my day-job is a sysadmin and I spend that time on entirely on Linux machines--so I'm rather OS agnostic.) That said I do prefer the Mac interface in almost all ways to the Windows. (If you are asking, my biggest complaint is that the Mac doesn't generate all previews in one pass, and that really isn't a huge deal.) They are not that different--the Mac definitely has more features and polish--so the learning curve should be rather flat.
So before everyone in this Windows area goes on a loom-smashing rampage, try being a little open minded. I embrace change--if it is for the better (and I really want Styles).0 -
I'm not sure why, but it bums me out that the controls on C1 V4 are going to be on the left side. Currently I use CaptureOne, Lightroom, Photoshop (not ACR though), Darkroom, none of them use left side controls (at least not on a PC), or they allow me to drag my menus and controls anywhere, on my second monitor is the best place for me.
I can't wait to see the new C1, with all it's changes. I think it can use a little something to bring it to the 21st century, and bring in features that other popular, and professional software titles offer.
but the left side? Oh me oh my!

I believe I have read somewhere that the tool pallet will be able to be detached and moved to a second monitor in V4. If that is the case, I would also guess that it could be docked on the right. Just because it is pictured on the left in one screen shot, doesn't mean it has to stay there. 0
