Can top level folder show sub-folder total image count?
Is there a way to get the top level folder show the summation count of all images in sub-folders? For example all of these yearly folders have images below them, but the top level shows zero. You have to expand each one to see the count of subdirectories.

etc., all the way down.
Seems like a confusing annoyance to me compared to other programs I've used (LR) ... but perhaps I'm easily confused.
Thanks.

It's a known design flaw, discussed many times in the forums. See "View photos in subfolders."
You should submit a feature request via Support. Ask for the "Show Union of Folder Hierarchies" function (similar to the one in the discontinued Media Pro).0 -
Thanks for the reply. I searched for the answer but with incorrect search terms I guess.
I'll submit the feature request.0 -
OK, I submitted the request. I attached a screenshot of C1's display of top level folders vs LR's. Seems pretty obvious which one makes the most sense and is easier to use. 0 -
Or you could embrace this design feature and take advantage of it.
I now start my editing with a session where the selects folder is the top level folder and the capture folder is a sub folder. That way once I have selected my best shots from the job and imported into my catalogue when j select a job folder I start by seeing my favourites.
Using smart albums you can get your, see all shots from 2017 etc.0 -

Or there is a default filter that one can deploy over a multi-year smart album to get just images of the chosen year or selected years from a non-date based album.
In fact there are quite a lot of options to slice and dice the images into different groupings on demand.

Thanks, I understand that, but I'm an old curmudgeon and computers have worked with a basic folder/directory structure for decades. It still makes sense to use them, and I can easily find my stuff this way in various apps. C1 makes it a bit more confusing.
Apparently I can't load an image directly into this forum without linking to an external site, but comparing C1 to LR's display it's pretty clear which is easier to understand.
Anyway, thanks for the info.0 -
Great idea, I'll submit the request!
However, the weak link in that design is Polly the Parrot (E), who may suddenly decide this is B.S. and will not go after the cracker (D).0 -

I must look into that approach. I have been trying various configurations for sessions and your suggestion might be what I have been looking for. Thanks.

I created a template for my configuration of session and on Windows you can set the selects folder to be the top level folder with '.' (without the quotes)0
