Explorer/System Folders
I really miss the possibility in CapOne 6 just to use program as browser/explorer looking through image files in Library/System Folders. In CapOne 7 I can only import images to a catalogue or do a session to see fotos meaning that I cannot really access all my photos unless I import them. Is this correct and is there any way I can do this in CapOne 7 ?

This is not correct. In CO7 only the catalog requires importing.
Like CO6 (and earlier) you can work with sessions. Or, if you like to browse folders, use just one and the same session all the time. Sessions do not require importing. This is how CO6 (and earlier) worked. But you only were not aware of it.0 -
Great Paul - thanks a lot.
I never got round to working with sessions earlier so that is why I never thought of that.
I am just a happy amateur - but I must admit that I have some difficulty in feeling quite comfortable with the sessions/catalogues structure - despite listening to the tutorials several times - but I will keep on trying.0 -

Hi Curton,
If I understand you correctly no, you can't use C1 as a "viewer" even in a session, without it generating all of it's working files that is! which, if you have a lot of images will soon nearly double the space you need on your hard drive.
If I'm wrong here someone please correct me as I would love to be able to use C1 to just view my already developed .jpg images.

Capture One 6 only contained sessions, so if you have been working with v6, you have worked with sessions as well. You might just have worked with the same session though, and you can do exactly the same in v7.0 -

You can filter out your raw-files with the filters tool: - Library Tool Tab -> Filters -> Click the upper right downwards facing triangle -> Global Filters -> Always hide Raw0 -

Hi Christian,
Even when I view folders of images with only .jpg files in them C1 still generates all of it's working files,
which makes sense as jpg's are editable, what I mean is, is there a way of doing it in a viewing mode only and not in an editing mode, like for example the ACDSEE viewer tab?

No, not in CO.
There are 2 general approaches to imaging if you will:
1) fast but poor quality rendition
2) good quality but processing intensive.
When we do previews we create a solution in between 1) and 2). We create, save and show the good quality previews, so we don't have to render new previews each time a picture is shown.0 -
Hi Christian,
That's what I thought, pity though.
Thanks for your reply.

...and to add...the preview files are relatively small, so no concern to me...BUT, the COne folder within the images viewed folder CAN be easily deleted after viewing if that is a concern.0
