Slow.....Very Slow
Hi ... Is it me or this new version of C4 very slow....
Ok so i tried the beta and that was slow...and now the final is slow too.
Compared to what phase had as a solid, fast, efficient piece of software (3.7x). Oh dear went went wrong, the new programmer guy......whats he doing ? . I guess maybe by Version 4.5- 5 we might have something although its took a while to get here to 4 so....mmmm maybe.
The previews are soo sloooow to build even on a G-Raid 0 setup on my new macbook pro intel. This is the same on both G5 Intel Macpro towers with 5Gb of ram and running on our XSAN system. Grrrrrr..
Focus tool is too slow .... i can see this being a real problem in a working situation. You really need this to be as fast as possible for you and your assistant.
I think to be honest ..... phase need to look at the key things that make a piece of software work for a photographer...they did have most of them very close to perfect in the previous version.
mmmmm not liking this .... quite scary really. Phase- let go of this raw codec and let the other boys have a shot at making a nice app. Make the raw codec open to developers, and let the big boys do there stuff.
P.S The Backs are really nice though i have to say ....so thumbs up on that ! Seems hardware is a strong point. Horses for...well you know the rest.

I agree. Drawing the thumbnails on my dual gig G4 tower is so slow as to make the beta unusable. I have still not been successful in getting the P1 server to accept my product activation on C4, so can't comment on the final version. But I am not optimistic. 0 -
Well after reading the rest of people comments on this software.......i totally agree with the overall consensus. I and our team are people that embraces new software and its improvements.....but.....err.. oh ... dear...not this time.
it may have a slightly improved image quality ....but ... i am sure they could have just built on the old code......Ahh yes thats right ...i forgot that the original programmers got head hunted by a major-thats right. So Phase by the looks of it are left a little in the air at present. - its always a little difficult to pick up someone else code- much simpler to re-write the book.......?.
we will stay with the 3.7.x for now. Hopfully phase will be able to patch the 3.7.x to work well with Leopard?
Maybe the pro version might improve on the issues.
Release the Phase Raw Codec and set the worlds programmers free !
