Manual Sort Order
Hi
I'm new to Capture One and run into a problem with my trial version (7.2.2, Pro) in my first test. I did check the release notes for 7.2.3 (sorting is not mentioned as fixed) and searched for a "manual sort order" problem here in the forum, seems nobody has a problem with (or uses) this feature or I have some problem of understanding it.
My workflow:
I imported my photos (some 20'000) => OK (keeping images in location)
I created a group with 2 projects => OK (I use only one of them)
I created an album in the first project => OK (some 100 images)
I created a smart album for 5* images in the project => OK
I created a smart album for images with a yellow color tag in the project => OK
I mark some of the images in the album as 5* => OK, they show up in the 5* smart album (some 30 images)
I tag some of the images as "yellow" => OK, the show up in the yellow tag smart album (some 20 images)
I sort the 5 star smart album by name => OK
I sort the yellow tag smart album manually (setting the sort order to Manual, sorting the images in grid-view) => failed
I can sort them manually, that's ok. But if I close Capture One and re-open it, the sort order is still set to manual, but the images are not sorted in the same order anymore (I don't recognize the sort order, it's kind of random).
How to solve the problem? Change sort order to name and back to manual. I have my manual sort order again. Easy fix for my test.
It might be my special setup, but it looks like some simple coding error, as the sorting information is available in the database.
But: this is some important feature for me in some situation, so my questions (sorry Phase One, they might seem hard):
- Does Capture One has many of these small glitches?
- How fast does Phase One fix them, once confirmed?
- How often does Phase One release updates / fixes to the software?
- How often do they run into regression issues? (I guess, this was working with some earlier version)
I'm looking for a new image workflow software, Capture One looks best so far with only two features missing up to now (but some features I didn't have before).
