I've yet to get it working, but I will keep plugging away.

Thanks Neoturk.
I don't know if you are on a Mac, but I'm going tomorrow to the Apple Store here in Dallas to see if they can make it work.
Since it seems to be a UBS driver issue, they should be able to help?
I'll post my results after.

Yep! I'm using a Mac Powerbook. I have tried everything. Changed out the file in question, reloaded and updated the Canon software and made sure I was on PC Connect as well.
It seems that some are having luck and some aren't. Let me know what you find out and if I figure it out, I'll post the fix.

Ok.. I finally got it working and this is what I have done so far:
After the C1P install of course -
Loaded the Canon software (just for giggles of course) I don't believe it had any bearing though.
Loaded any updates to the Canon software from their site:
Drivers/Software link will take you t6 the updates.
Then after reading a few more posts, I went back to Apples support site:
and downloaded the IOUSBFamily.kext 2.5.6 Build 8L127 version v 258.4.1
After the reboot, I opened up C1P and went to the 'Organize Tool' tab and right below it, I pressed the '+' to start a new session. I named it 'New' and then created a new folder where the word 'Capture' was. Then I connected the 5D and everything started working. Took a shot and it loaded right up.
Victory at last, but my feet are sore. I know this is a lot, but you can try skipping the Canon software loads if you like and just go straight for the Apple update. You don't have to do anything but - download - double-click and reboot... that's all.
Good luck.

Thanks Bob. You are lucky! I tried your way line by line and it's not working.
Still get the Error: 0c00080.
I can't even get any of the Canon utilities to see the camera!
What Mac OSX version are you running? What Mac machine?
I'm off to the Apple store now to see if they want to help.

Sorry to hear it didn't work...
I'm using a PowerPC with version: 10.4.80 -
What version of C1P? Can you use the Canon Utilities also?
I'm begining to think it might be my USB port on the camera.

Well the Apple store was useless. They could not get my camera to even show up in iphoto. I can't get it to show up on my computer with anything either.
I think its a baad USB port on the camera.
i'm going to send it back and try a new one.

Bill-
FYI
If you have problems with the connection, try removing the camera battery for a several seconds. Turning the camera off does not clear it's memory and it can "hold on to" a connection issue. Also, connect the USB cable AFTER the C1 pro software loads, and give it enough time to say it's ready before snapping a pic.
In addition, you should try restarting the computer and repairing permissions on your boot drive.
Your port may be bad, or it could be the cable, but many times I find removing the battery to really help. Also make sure the menu screen on the camera is not on. Oh, there's also a setting in the camera's menu about PC connect, make sure it's set correctly.
cheers

Bill, also if you performed the fix for 10.4.7 where you replace a IOUSB kext file, you will need to replace it with the current 10.4.8 or whichever your system is currently at. That fix was for 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 did not have the USB issue.
