Nikon D200 NEF files displayed in green
All my D200 files appear with a green cast. I use LE trial version. My D70 files are ok.

Matteo,
Be sure you have version 3.7.4
Don't use AUTO or Custom WB for in-camera setting and then check results.
Best to choose an in-camera preset for consistent WB results.

It is 3.7.4. I have not adjusted any WB setting. ALL images are displayed with a strong green cast - thumbs and full size. [quote="Keith Carpenter" wrote:

Could that be because C1 does not decode the encrypted WB from Nikon? [quote="matteo" wrote:

Hi, Matteo.
I've seen this issue with my D200 NEF's, too. Not consistently, just now and then. I'm not convinced it's just with auto WB, though. Next time I see it, I'll double check.
From memory, when it happens, the WB value is way out. I adjust the slider to something sensible (eg 5200-5500 for daylight), and the green cast vanishes.
I wonder if you're right, maybe CaptureOne has a problem with Nikon's encrypted WB. (Come to that, most people have a problem with that!)
Still, it seems easy enough to correct, and on the whole, I find that C1 does an excellent job of rendering D200 NEF's. Best RAW converter I've tried since I bought the camera in December.

OK, it just happened again. This time, White Balance "as shot" was Flash (5400 K on a Nikon D200), not Auto.
I selected Auto WB in C1, which looked way too "cool" (4600) for my liking. So I tried to restore the original WB. This is when the problem occurred. The Tint setting went down to -50 (ie off the scale, to the left) causing the green cast. (WB, inexplicably, was reset to 4250, not 5400). I fixed the problem by setting Tint to -16 (which is what Auto WB had set it to). This looked right. I then had to reset WB manually, as the restore feature still would not work.
So yes, it seems C1 can sometimes have a problem with Nikon's encrypted WB. The problem seems to occur when you try to apply C1's auto WB to Nikon's encrypted values. But with me, it happens very rarely. I find that it usually handles it just fine. When it does happen, it's unable to revert. Both Tint and WB are completely out, and the only way to fix that is to reset them manually.
I hope this helps.

I reported thisproblem to support and I send an example image as well. They said encryption should not be a problem. Obviously it still is a problem as they clearly cannot read the WB from the camera. Same behaviour here: WB is set to 4250 and Tint to -50. For me, it happens without any auto setting, just WB-preset in-camera and "as shot" in C1-LE.
I remember when it was first dicovered that stupid Nikon has encrypted their WB, all known convertes except C1 and ACR (Adobe) have immediately decoded it and did not care about what Nikon said. Not sure excatly but C1 and ACR were hesitating to decode the WB for legal reasons. Seems now they have technical problems. Can't tell which ones are affected, but for me it is 80% of my images.
Just tried Bibble 4.8: the highly configurable UI can be confusing at first. But it's a real great value for the money. C1-Pro is just ridiculously expensive.[quote="Gunner B" wrote:

I haven't tried it with manual preset WB yet, just Nikon's generic presets (direct sunlight, flash, etc).
Just for the record, I'm pretty sure C1 Pro also has this problem. I tried them both out, but in the end I went for LE, as I just couldn't justify spending EUR 499 on a RAW converter - however good it is. (I have the same mental block with Photoshop CS2!)
So far, I find LE does everything I need. I can live with the occasional WB "glitch", as I know how to correct it. It suits my shooting style to use an appropriate generic WB setting in-camera, then fine-tune it afterwards if needed. Admittedly, if it affected 80% of my images, I might feel a bit differently! As with any imaging software (speaking as a relative newbie to digital), it's a case of whatever works for you.
Good shooting! 😊

I've got C1 Pro 3.7.4, and also have this issue. So it is across the board.
But as you said simon, it is easily corrected. Just a pain. I like to have at least a start point to begin my WB "tweek".
cheers
