Settings lost and some sessions bugs
Apparently 9.3 versions has a problems handing Default settings.
Firstly, it resets saved for my cameras. No big deal but it also resets it in some previous sessions - at least Basic (Profile and Camera Curve), Curve and Noise Reduction settings are back for software defaults, not mine.
Also for some Sessions (i've discovered it for 9.2 as well) it shows No image placeholders in Browser for Session Albums. If i browse in Library tab and select particular folder - it's ok there. But Albums is broken, i don't get system but i've checked dozen of sessions and result is different for some sessions is working, for some - is broken.
I don't know how to reproduce it 'cause i manually re-apply needed settings for some images.

At my 9.3 the same, so it is reproduced and reproducible. I have opened a tech support call, no answer yet. 0 -
How did you run the update?
Did you replace the existing installation or install alongside what was already there?
In <User><Appdata><Local><Captureone>
you should find some folders that hold the various special user related settings.
Some have not been changed for some versions and may appear to relate to older versions of C1 but are still current, others may be updated frequently with new releases. Recipes is one example.
If they are not there even for previous releases you may need to investigate why that might be.

What are the differences for the session where the Album is OK compared to the sessions where they do not appear?
Are they Albums or Smart Albums?

Hi Grant,
I ran the update as simple as that.
I am used with other programs to ask what to do with older settings if something is to be modified. Or, I am warned to back up settings, or to remove first previous versions. This way nothing wrong happens. If I have to do something prior of update C1 must state this clearly!
It seems to me poor policy to overwrite something without warning. The big frustration comes not from a poorly designed update policy, IMHO, but from the fact that the replacing of my defaults might went unnoticed (i hope bold letters are OK) and the next backup would have destroyed the original.
Still waiting (3 days) for the support team to react.

Hi All,
I got a response from support. They do not understand the bug at all. The issue has been passed to R&D. Keep fingers crossed.

Waiting 3 days for the support team to respond is not usual. Do you have a case number? If so I guess it can be safe to assume the case has created correctly.
I nearly always install alongside a an existing release. Yes I know it is not recommended. I never have any problems (as far as I have seen) with personalised settings going missing.
Those settings are store by Windows User so one has to make sure to always use the same user name on the machine. Or copy the relevant folder into the correct locations if working between machines or with different "users" on the same machine.
As for the Edit information. No problems I can recall from that either.
Some time back I was seeing a few reports of "Mask not found" or something similar to that message, in the log files. I think that was basis of the message. However I don't recall every seeing an identifiable problem when editing.
The user custom defaults are separate from the system defaults. Many of then are carried forward from earlier versions if there is no reason to change them. In fact since they are saved in the same place for all versions there is no need to replace them at all.
If we are talking sessions (not catalogues) the Album definition information is, as far as I know, held in the cosession file but the edit information is held in files that in folders found in the same folder as the image to which the edit instructions relate. Previews are in another folder in the same place.
The previews can safely be ignored since they can be regenerated on demand. The edit instruction files (.cos, etc.) may still exist but for some reason are not where C1 expects to find them. If so put them back where they need to be and all should be well. Maybe the Album problem will resolve itself too if the edit files are re-discovered?

I've installed it over previous. Should try to make clean installation.
I've see no particular difference between sessions. Each has from 4 to 12 Albums. Only one has Smart Album.
Anyway, i worry mostly about image edits and settings.0 -

From reading your previous posts, I don't think your problems are the same as the OP's. What is your Support case-number ?
Also, CO does not overwrite settings, sessions or catalogs. In case of Sessions or
Catalogs, a untouched backup file is always left next to updated database-file.
In case of settings (when using Sessions), the original settings-folder is always left untouched. Settings are loaded and then parsed into a new settings-folder for the new version instead.0 -

Please contact our Support team, and be sure to provide a complete set of log-files. They'd be happy to to a deeper look into what happened.0 -
Hi Christian,
Thank you.
There can be a misunderstanding. I didn not mean to say 9.3 "replaced" 9.2 user defined defaults on the disc, as they were available to be applied (!) , but in the edited variant. The variant appeared exactly as I did it, except for the user defined default (noise, sharpening). Reinstalling 9.2, the modifications done by 9.3 were visible. Now, 9.2 behave as if nothing happened. So, the problem is indeed 9.3. I use only sessions.
