To start with your last question to batch process a bunch of images in one stroke: use the Shift-key when you give the process command. There is a sticky thread at the top of this subforum page that will go into detail.

Regarding you other workflow question: the 'developed' subfolder feature of CO 3.x is not (yet?) implemented in CO 4.x. CO 4 allows you to set any folder as output folder and it will save all output there until you select another folder.

Paul...........Thank you for your quick response.

I think I did not make myself clear........sorry.

I have read the "batch" thread.....................I can "select" many images and then hit shift/process and it will process the batch. I can't believe the after editing some 40/50 images or more out
of 200/300 or more, that I have to go back through the entire folder again and reselect the ones that have already been edited, so they can be transferred to the queue for processing.

They only end up in the queue, after I click shift/process. So you can never check at to what is in the queue as you are working with the lot.

C1 pro 3x added them to the queue as you went along and then processed them with one click. Very fast and slick.

Having to go back through the whole folder again and re select the edited ones, so they can be added to the queue to be processed is a huge waste of time.

I MUST be doing something wrong????????

As to the output folder....................just another unnecessary step. A nice feature perhaps, for some applications, but why not a "back to original destination" choice. in the drop down, like C1 3x??

I just had a new 64 bit computer built to use C1 4 pro and the last two jobs, I had to go back to my old computer as the workflow is way faster.

    Perhaps it is just me???????????

First you can put them in the queue without processing them! Just set the batch to "stop". You can toggle the batch from "process" to "stop". Set to "process" the images are processed directly. Set to "stop" you just collect them in the queue. When finsehd with editing set the batch to "process" and it will process all the files selected in the queue.
Second thing I'd recommend is tagging the files you edit. E.g. just press "5" and the file is rated with 5 stars. then you sort the folder by rating. Now it's very easy to select the rated images and put them in the batch (queue).

Thomas...........Thanks for the help, I really appreciate!!

I can "star" them or "color select" them and then select star or color in the edit drop down.................how do you get them in the queue from there??

If I control/shift/d.........it will put them .............(or just the single one that I just finished editing) in the queue, but then you have to select whether to start the batch queue or not. This is several extra steps per image.

None of these steps were in C1-3x................I find it hard to believe that this "upgrade" is supposed to have more steps that the one it is replacing.

Maybe I am just being to picky. I know ALL the hard work by many, that must have gone into this upgrade, but more time to work through hundreds of images makes you wonder.

I think I don't understand you... there is nor real difference from V3 to V4 as to processing.
If the files are tagged and gouped (sorted) you select them by clicking on the first image hold shift and click on the last image - then press ctrl+shift+d to send the selected images to the queue.

Eihter you send every single image to the (stopped) batch after editing (ctrl+d) and start the batch after you finished editing all the files.
Or you first edit all the images, mark (select) them and send them to the (hot) batch (shift+ctrl+d).
This is basically the same in V3.

In CO 4.5 you can either give a star rating 1-5 or a color tag (7 colors + none) as you discovered. You can do this before or during correcting images, depending on your workflow. In the CO 3 days, you probably would have tagged them.

Next, select all rated or all tagged. The suggestion to sort them first and select them next is also possible, but that is old CO 3 style and, extra work not necessary anymore. You can directly select the rated/tagged images from the Edit menu.

Next, process all selected. Process queue can be started and stopped at will. Nothing new here too.

I think that CO 4 gives you more options and to achieve in less time, except for de 'developed' sub folder discussed earlier. Hope this helps.

Ah, batch processing issues, no 'develops' folder, missing shortcuts, no central cache... it's good to see that now the PRO version is out that all the old favourites are being moaned about all over again.
    Will PO ever learn?
