Reading images from camera
Hello,
I am a new user who is trying to read the images from a D300 camera into C1P8. Tethering is working fine, so the cables are working, but when I attach the camera and try to impor I see the import dialog asks for a storage location to import from but I cannot select the camera? When I plug in the camera to the USB Apple's Photo's starts up (which I promptly close). I don't have a card reader so I wish to download the shots taken in the camera via a USB. Is this possible to do directly in C1P8, or do I have to go through some convoluted process of using Lr or Ps to copy the RAW files first.
Please help, I am finding this quite frustrating for a basic operation that ought to be simple to do.
Thanks.

I have also tried to import when tethering, but I couldn't find a way to do it. Maybe I overlooked something and someone can help?
Unfortunately, the main import dialogue in Capture One can not read images via the USB MTP. If your camera has an option to make the USB connection work like a disk, then selecting that should solve the problem (I do not have a Nikon, but with Canon DSLRs there isn't an option for this).
An alternative work-around is to use Apple's "Image Capture.app" (from /Applications). If you open this and connect the camera, you can download the images, and subsequently import them to Capture One. You can set Image Capture to open automatically if a camera is connected. It is awkward, but it works...
The Photos app always opening is a pain, but if you check the UI when it launches because of the camera there should be an pop-up menu where you can tell it to never open again. I usually just delete Photos.app...0 -
The answers are actually already given: connecting is for tethered shooting. Downloading from camera is not supported. On Mac the Image Capture app is the easiest way to go or use a card reader. 0 -
Thanks for the reply, this is what I feared it would be. In my opinion this is a shortcoming to the usability of this application. So I'll go and get a card reader then.... 😊 0
