Capture One LE Help and bits
Hi!
I just downloaded the trial version of Capture One LE and so far it looks great but before I buy I want to understand a few things better.
First, Sessions. How do you set a session? On opening Capture I can navigate to my raw folder and set as capture folder, I can then navigate to where I want my process folder to be and set that but I seem to get a Capture One Sessions default folder appear in my Pictures Folder. Why is this?
I'm not sure I entirely understand the working flow yet. There seems to be lots of folders created all over the place.
Basically I want to be able to Choose my Raw folder for a particular batch I'm going to process, select where the processed images will end up.. then I hear sessions and get a little lost 😊
I find that the tutorials and help docs aren't great at actually explaining how things work and "ways" to do things. Is the documentation any better once you purchase?
Cheers

Hi Floyde,
Capture One LE does not use sessions, that is actually a feature in Pro. The Default Session folder is created as a starting point for Capture One. you can choose to utilize it or use your own folders. Try not to get too overwhelmed with folders. You can set any folder to be a capture folder or a process folder. Use any folder structure that works for you. If you find it easier, you can set up your folders in the finder and drag the ones you want to use for importing, processing, trash, or just to work in.
As far as documentation goes, everything is public and not restricted to purchases. On our website we offer The Knowlegebase, Tutorials, and our User Forum. If you can not find your answer here, you can create a support case at support.phaseone.com and recieve a direct answer from us. The Support system is monitored 18 hours a day / 5 days a week, but is available to submit a case 24/7.0 -
Appreciate your swift reply.. thanks!
I'll look into it again tonight.
Cheers again, I reckon I'l be purchasing shortly.

Floyde - I had EXACTLY the same concerns as you when I first started using the program. It does seems a bit complicated initially and there does appear to be folders everywhere. Also I find documentation and video tutorials that Phase One provide are very basic (and difficult to view large enough in video format!).
All I can say is that once you have understood it and worked with it a bit, it becomes second nature and very quick and easy. I have only had it a week and am finding that 90% is easy to use.
The only thing I still do not understand is what the 'Capture Folder' and 'Process Folder' above the thin black line are for? The 'Capture Folder' doesn't seem to do anything and the 'Process Folder' just seems to replicate what is in the 'Processed' folder below the thin black line. Maybe someone from Phase One can let us know?! I do understand the Captures and Processed folder below the line.
The email support is very good from Phase One, although I wish they also had telephone support.
I look forward to the final version of CO4 as this looks like an improvement and having the shadows highlights tool will be useful!0 -
The 'Capture Folder' and 'Process Folder' above the thin black line are just quick links to the currently active capture and process folders - quite handy if you have a lot of folders in your favorites panel. However, the 'Capture Folder' is really hard to select, you have to click just below the text to select it... A little bug I think... 0 -
The "Trash" folder does not appear to be functional in C1 LE. I see no icon at the bottom to click on in order to designate a Trash folder. If I try to delete an image, I get some sort of error message. 0
