Colour profiles in TIFF/JPG etc
Does C1v7 read the ICC profiles attached to JPG/TIFF files etc? I ask because i've noticed that if i convert a RAW file and then view the converted file with C1 also, the colours shift and change saturation so that the RAW and the processed versions appear noticeably different. Adobe LR displays the processed images correctly though - the processed TIFF/JPG looks the same in LR as the RAW does in C1.

Yes and No.
Capture One is first and foremost a RAW processing software. As such, when we read a JPEG or TIFF we treat them the same as a RAW and apply an ICC profile and curve as if there is no fixed color profile (just like a RAW).
As such, the "Generic" JPEG ICC profile is just that, generic, and may be more/less desirable depending on what embedded colorspace the JPEG/TIFF natively has. So we do "Read" the embedded ICC but then we use a generic workflow with a base ICC to have some form of consistency with these types of files.0 -
Could i put in a feature request on this please? Whilst C1 is primarily a RAW converter, it is also now a digital asset manager which means that it is going to be used for cataloging more than RAW files. For this i would suggest it is important that jpg's, tiffs, psd's etc correctly displayed. For sure, for me to swap over from a Lightroom-centric workflow to C1-centric workflow, i would want this to work properly. 0 -
Please do so through a Support Case so we can forward it in an official manner to our developers.
