Problems with Olympus E-500
Hi all,
I have problems with colored stripes in some pictures. I baught the software phase one le (file version 3.7.3.140) last weekend and now I think this was a mistake, because yesterday evening I took some pictures in my house and as a result I saw colored stripes on some pictures. If I open this pictures with Olympus Master Software I do not have the issue with the stripes. Is this a known bug in the software and when will this problem be fixed?

I believe you have created a suport case with us aswell where we have verified this. We will come with a solution. In the mean time we would like to here if there is more users that have the same issue or if this is a isolated incedent. 0 -
Hello,
I, too, have noticed a problem with my images. I purchased Capture One LE 3.7 a few months ago because I found the workflow to be superior to the Olympus software provided with my Olympus E300. Recently though I noticed that there were artifacts in many of my images when I viewed them at 200% magnification or more. In one close up image of blooming flowers with intense reds, oranges and yellows, I saw what looks like a grid pattern as the colors change from one to another. When I developed the same RAW image in Olympus Master and in Adobe Photoshop 7 with the Olympus provided plugin, I didn't see the same artifacts but instead smooth gradations and delicate details. In other images I have noticed what appear to be horizontal lines where light and dark areas intersect. I would like to continue to use this program because of its ease of use, but cannot until this problem is resolved.

Sorry, this problem is known (among Olympus users). See forums at www.dpreview.com site (Olympus SLR talk), for example.
I have Olympus E-500 and discover some problems with image quality with C1 PRO (latest version 3.7.4 is affected, too).
Please, check these samples!

Pattern noise suppression do not work, because its only shifts problem to another colors!
By the way, Adobe Photoshop CS2 converter, Olympus Studio and SilkyPix are not affected by this.
If necessary, I can send you some RAW files.

We have actually fixed this kind of issue for a number of raw images we got from other customers. It's annoying that the fix did not kill them all at once.
Please help to get them all and by providing us one or two the raw images, by entering a Support Case on the support web link :

I will post some RAW files as soon as I will have fast internet connection!
Regards!

Yesterday I’ve posted two RAW files via support form. Hope this helps you to defeat image quality issues! If you need RAW files from other Olympus cameras, I can ask about this in Olympus forums at dpreview.com.
I would be happy to test your software with my ORFs, if necessary. By the way, why there is no image shadows controller? It is very useful feature!

The problem was much less present in version 3.7.3 than in 3.7.4. I guess this has to do with the fact that, according to the release notes, \"reference point (zero) on the Noise Suppression slider has been changed to include more details\".
In 3.7.4, the \"maze pattern\" effect is much less apparent if one raises the Noise Suppression slider one notch up from \"Low\", and uses sharpening settings of Amount = 100-150 and Threshhold = 3 (Standard Look) to compensate for the increased smoothing. What would be best, actually, would be the addition of one more step in the Noise Suppression slider, between \"Low\" and the current next step. This way one could get less smoothing while eliminating much of the maze pattern; at this level the pattern, while still present somehow, might not visible at all at 100% view, or in print.

I'm finding with E1 and E500 Raw files that not only is there a maize pattern at high magnifacation(especially in reds) but even more annoying is that out off focus backgrounds take on a painterly effect as if a paint filter had been used.
Not what I was expecting when I purchased C1LE.
For anyone wondering what i am on about, E1 file processed using as shot setting in both Olympus master on the left and C1 LE on the right.

Hopefully there will be a fix for this soon.

After some experimenting it is obvious that CI has problems with the red channel in ORF files.
