Bad chromatic aberration correction
Hello 😊
Today I used a new Samyang 85 1.4 lens and did some test shots. I read before buying, that the lens has some problems with chromatic aberration when using a wide aperture. But most people wrote it's easy to fix in raw converters. So I trusted in these arguments and in the raw capabilities of C1.
Unfortunately I was very disappointed today:
The chromatic Aberration fix seems not to work at all. At 100% the result with and without "correction" look identical but in Adobe Bridge the chromatic aberration is removed nearly completely. I might be to stupid to use the tool without any values to change.
In Photoshop and Dx it looks a lot better after the correction. In addition these tools correct most of the color problems.
BTW is there plan to support the Samyang lenses with correction profiles in the future?

Thanks in advance,

Did you run the CA analysis ?
We would like to support as many different quality lenses as possible, so eventually Samyang will likely be part of the database.0 -
Yes, if I used it the right way, then I did. If you like, I can send you the raw file for testing.
And thanks for the notice to the lenses. 😊0 -
Please create a support case, and be sure to supply the file in the case. 0 -

If you can make the RAW file available on a file sharing service I am sure a number of people here would be interested to see what results they get.
I have had a Samyang 14mm lens for some years and I am very pleased with it. However I have seen results from other examples of the lens taken with other camera models that have been less satisfactory.
Whilst I am sure that the Samyang products can be and are mostly excellent I suspect the testing regime that Phase would need to undertake to ensure consistency from lens to lens might be quite time consuming. It might be interesting to be able to compare the results derived from the lenses as tested in the lab with how the corrections work on user's images shot with the same lens.
One challenge, of course, is that the manual lenses are not able to report their settings which makes the potential for accurate and finely tuned adjustments across a range somewhat challenging to apply automatically - or so I would guess.
Maybe some sort of tuned slider could be provide and users could simply adjust it to their satisfaction. Or make their own adjustments, as now, if not convinced by the lab analysis.

Hey,
I created the support ticket: 212514 with the RAW file.
Thanks in advance,
