C1 stops responding on Windows 10.
Capture One 12 Pro works great on Mac, but is absolutely useless on Windows 10. I'm using an SSD on an MSI GS65. Capture One version 12.1.4.21 64 bit.
- Scrolling through images in my Catalog always causes the app to stop responding, and return the previous scroll position.
- Touching just about anything at all will probably cause the app to stop responding.
- After importing new images, the "creating thumbnails" dialog never goes away, thumbnails are never created, and I cannot open any image. All imported images are always completely blank.
As far as I know, there are no options to tweak with regards to storage, CPU or performance.
So what do I do here?

What have you tried so far?
How big is your catalogue?
How much memory do you have?
What level of activity is Windows reporting?
What do the log files tell you?
You need to know that not everyone has such problems an it's probably a question of working out why you do have them.
Finally, a guess based on your description so far, go into the preferences and set and set the options to use Hardware Acceleration to "None" for both possible entries.
Then restart C1 and see what happens.
Before that, if you have killed C1 at all in frustration, reboot your machine a couple of times to allow Windows to do some tidying up or orphaned work files and stuff.
If turning off Hardware Acceleration gives an improved result it would probably be a good idea to seek an alternative driver for your GPU card. Either an update or a downdate. Don't rely on Windows for the update. Also there are some recent Win 10 updates that are know to cause problems . There are threads in the forum in recent weeks, As a Win 7 user I have not made a note of the specifics for those problems. Sorry. Probably not too difficult to find them anyway ince you know there is something to look for.
If none of that helps create a support case and send the C1 Support Team a description of the problem and the log files and let them help you diagnose the problem. Bear in mind the service is free but it is the weekend and that tends to make for a busy period at the start of the week for the Support Team.
HTH.

I reinstalled and rebooted my computer, and the app no longer stops responding.
A new set of problems are now present:
- When cropping, the grid attaches to the entire image instead of the cropped area
- Clicking on the star rating on the thumbnail does nothing. Right click -> Rating works.
- Clicking on the color tag on the thumbnail does nothing. Right click -> Color Tag works.
- Vertical bars in the levels interface are missing.
- Star ratings are not read from the image metadata.0 -
- When cropping, the grid attaches to the entire image instead of the cropped area
The answer to that one I know, at least. There is a check box on the Grid tool that says Follow Crop.

Use the Viewer or the Keyboard shortcuts. Or right click as you have found.[quote="Festics" wrote:

Not something I have seen previously.
What sort of file?
Can you save a screen shot somewhere on a file sharing site and post a link to it?[quote="Festics" wrote:

Again, what sort of file? Where have the ratings been applied (In camera?)

Probably your labels are in Status Mode.
Go to View -> Customize Browser -> Labels -> and select Edit Mode0 -

When you say image metadata do you mean xmp files added by another program? If so there is a setting in preferences that controls what happens with xmp files. You say everything is working on the Mac but the crop settings and xmp handling are the same on both OS's?
You haven't said which version of Windows 10 you are using and GPU, display problems (levels tool) are often GPU / driver related. Just for clarification are you actually on a PC or running Win 10 virtually on your Mac?0 -

I don't know. I am assigning a star rating to the images in camera on my Fujifilm X-E1. I'm not sure how this camera stores the metadata.0 -

Good point!
I had forgotten that one.0
