"High" quality vs. QuickProof
I'm confused as to the difference between developing my raw files (Nikon D2X) in the \"High Quality\" setting vs. \"QuickProof\".
When the software was first taught to me, I thought that High Quality meant that the conversion was based on the actual data from the raw file. And that the QuickProof setting conversion was somehow based on the onscreen preview. The difference in conversion time is staggering as QuickProof takes a few seconds, and High Quality takes well over 30 seconds. (I realize differences in computer and processor speed will have an effect, but the times I am quoting are all from the same machine.)
Checking in the knowledge base, there is an article that suggests that QuickProof does use infomation from the original raw file and not the preview.

I haven't found any other information on this topic, so I'm hoping that someone out there can explain the output differences between the two settings, and how the actual processes differ.

The difference is that Quickproof set speed before quality and High set Quality before speed.
Basically the Quickproof extract data from RAW file and create a TIF or JPG while the Highquality run quite a lot of heavy algorithems to improve quality of the RAW to the Max.0
