    what is the default? I only see pre 1 and 2, soft 1,2,3, and 3.7 soft and standard

    Pre 1 and 2, soft 1,2,3, and 3.7 soft and standard are presets. No preset will apply the default value as does the tool reset. You can change the default (to a new default) with the Save as Defaults option in the tool's title bar (triangle).
