Session work by Folder not image but yes, you can have the same folder in more than one session. Just use the Explorer to navigate from the session to which you want to add the image to the folder in which the image is located

However you may want to consider how you would manage that and keep control over both (or all of) the sessions in parallel.

It may be better to create a new copy of the image. There are ways of doing that and keeping existing edits if that is something you need to do.

    Hy,

a copy is exctly what want to have.

I want to have a new Session with the best pictures of all other Sessions. The pictures should be copied into the new Session. I don't want to use them parallel in more sessions.

    OK.

There are several way to do that.

If you wish to take an unedited file to another session (that exists already) you just need to know which folder you will put it in and then copy and paste using Windows Explorer. You can get to Explorer using the "Show in Explorer" feature.

If you wish to take an image and all of its edits the best way is to "Pack as EIP". This creates a "zip" file for the image and all adjustment files. Check out the Online Help for details.

    http://help.phaseone.com/en/CO9/Editing ... s/EIP.aspx

You now have the option to Export Original as an EIP file to the folder of your choice (in the new for this image session) OR copy and paste the eip file in Explorer OR, with both session open, drag and drop the EIP file between them but make sure it is to a folder not an album. For example you can drag an EIP file to the Selects folder of another Session and drop it there. C1 will ask you if you are sure you want to copy the file.

Following the use of either method you can then Unpack the successfully copied file.

I would suggest that you experiment with some test sessions in order to become familiar with the process.

There may be other ways approach you requirement but I would think that they would be variations on something suggested above.

    Hy Grant,

sounds good. I think the EIPs are excatly what I'm looking for.

I will try that this weekend.

    Hy Grant,

one more question about EIP and maybe a bug/issue.

When packing a file to EIP, the original file is no more present. Can pack a file to EIP and have them both side by side?

When packing a RAW picture with a XMP sidecarfile to EIP and then unpack this EIP, the XMP-File is missing, So C1 packs the XMP into the EIP, but when unpacking the XMP-File gets lost. I think that must be a bug and report it to the hotline.

    Greetings
    Robert

    Hi Robert,

The original RAW is in the EIP "zip" package. You don't need both for the purpose of using the EIP concept as it is intended.

That said I have not used it at all (except to discover what it might offer for your purposes) so if you seek advice from experienced users I would see if you can encourage one or two to appear here! They likely will do so, given time.

I don't use XMP files either so I will leave that to Support to answer.

    Have fun.
