no it should be as fast as PC unless it is busy doing something such as generating proxies; in this case you should see spinners going...

oh, yes, it is busy doing something... it is okay when it is downloading the previews, it is understandable. but "hangs" when i come back to c1 after a while (say, after working in ps for some time).... so when i come back to c1, it takes it 5 to 10 minutes to to wake up...

Are the thumbs completely rendered (no spinning wheels), or are you quitting C1 before they have a chance to complete it?

The new version (5.0.1) should show some improvements. I was running the v 5; downloaded demo and it was having a lot of hang up issues. All using a MacPro.

Ran the DB and PRO v5 on a P45 back and Canon 5D; with noticeable hang ups. Then got the 5.0.1 PRO to run on the Canon 5D, tethered with great success. Have yet to test out the p45 back.

I think there is a steady stream of improvements being made to C1 5. For me this version has more success than the previous v 4.

I just can see the 5.0 on the Phase download page… http://xchange.phaseone.com/Content/Downloads/CO5.aspx

It should be up now. The only problem I've run into with the C1 is the compatibility with WACOM tablets. A slight problem with the cursor working with the image import window.

I cannot struggle with C1 any longer. It definitely hangs up. I quit it. Really sorry about that.

Did you try 5.0.1? Did you open a support case?

gosh, i tried everything i could, and everything my IT guys could. well, i have not tried ...1 version, no. does it make sense to?

but, i will tell you one thing, i am scared to to re-install the stuff on my mac again, you know. no offense, really. i have worked with c1 for a year or so and got used to it, really good stuff in terms of what you get at the end. but...

Up to you. 5.0.1 is a maintenance release, that is with fewer bugs. From what I read there is something in your setup that breaks CO5. You could also experiment with an other monitor profile temporarily (ColorSync Utility).

to experiment with another monitor profile, what is it?
also, to try the 501, do i have to re-install my 500 set and to run update or do i have to dawnload 501 as a new set?

download 501 and install on top of 500; monitor profile might be the culprit, it is easy to rule that out. Do you have a calibrate monitor (profile)? Substitute the default profile.

    thanks a lot
i will try to download 501 (hopefully this does not mean another 99 euro bucks) and install it onto my sys. well, as of the profiles, i do not really get it, i have my monitor calibrated all the time and what?..

Have the same expr. Sloooow, painstakingly slow.

It shouldn't be so slow, but I have to say C1 is high strung and cranky and needs to run on a perfect system. We tolerate this because it's very good (and knows it!)

I don't tolerate it. I suppose I have an average system. Neither perfect nor fancy. But with other applications running ok. There are other similar fast, precise and bright options to C1, so why struggle with the cranky one?
