Same scenario here on two Macs (MBP 15" Retina mid 2014 and MacPro mid 2010, OS X 10.11.3, single catalog, referenced photos).
I opened a support case (Case ID 214869) as well!

Here I got the following issue using sort by name:

    - Inside the library (album/groups): slow but works
    - In folders: So slow that I kill C1 at some point.

Just to update forum users, here is response from Support on my case ID above.

    QUOTE
    "Hi - thanks for writing.

What you report have already been seen and reported to R&D as the filtering and keywords not beeing "saved" after restart of Capture One. This will be looked into a.s.a.p and when R&D release it - this will be public to all. However i cannot say when the release will take place but we are not talking months .)

All the best and thanks for trying out Capture One

Well it seems i updated and jumped the gun too soon. This is partially still there Oliver.

If I right click and sort, the sort completes lightning quick, but stopping/starting C1....and its all back to unsorted.

Re-opening Support Record. Who is testing this stuff at C1?

I assume others are seeing the same thing?

All my catalogs start up correctly sorted and with complete folder list. New and relocated folders sort in fine. I worked a whole evening on a number of sessions and referenced catalogs without library issues.

I closed my v9.1 sandbox. Now I'm upgrading sessions and catalogs from v9.0.3 to v9.1.1.

Can you check if the folders are holding their sorted order after a restart of C1, because mine aren't.

When you upgraded - did you go from 9.1 to 9.1.1 in place, ie just double click on the DMG file and let it install itself over the top or do a full re-install ( ie full uninstall including all the supplementary files first)?
    Thx

Sort isn't holding here after a restart in 9.1.1 here either.

So Support told me to do a full un-install and re-install as per https://www.phaseone.com/en/Search/Arti ... nguageid=1

So I followed this to the letter and the un-install and re-install seemed to go OK...only thing I seemed to lose was a my keyboard shortcuts.(you might like to note that BTW)

HOWEVER - it did not fix my problem. The folders on my external hardrive where my referenced images live are completely in some random order.

I tried right click and "Sort by Name" and it works UNTIL you stop/start C1....then all unsorted again.

I tried show and hide the folder hierarchy and various sorting combinations and again all works UNTIL you stop/start C1....then all unsorted again.

To top it all off, every time I try and update that Support case record this past 24 hrs, I get:-

    "Server Error
Sorry but the server has encountered internal error while doing the last operation.
    Please try again later.
If you will still see this page, please let us know."

FFS - how do I let you know? ❓ You force us to contact you via the Support Case.

Well I hope C1 support do browse this forums....because record 214954 is still open and your solution didnt work!...and I have no means of telling you.

Doug (one very frustrated C1 user whose patience is wearing thin) 👿

Such is the Capture One catalog. One seriously wonders if they have the technical skills to solve this.

In the meantime, edit images with Capture One in a single session or multiple sessions, if you prefer.

Manage your images with something else.

I was recently teaching my son Lightroom, a nice improvement from Apple Photos. And I was sort of editing side by side with him. As much as I criticize Capture One, image editing is really nicer than Lightroom. You can get to very similar results with both; it will require more work in Lightroom. Capture One advantages: local adjustments, perspective correction, camera profiles, highlight/shadow recovery. All the editing features are entirely accessible with sessions, which can coexist with Lightroom or any other photo library manager, with some meaningful inconveniences.

But, catalogs, keywords, and metadata are close to unusable with bugs and abysmally slow performance. Unfortunate.
