Belkin Powered Firewire Hub
I just upgraded my trusty 6 year old Mac Powerbook running Snow Leopard and CO 6.4.2 to the fastest Powerbook available, 2.6 ghz Intel Core i7 with 16GB of ram and a 1TB HD. I installed the latest version of CO v7. While most features are much faster, my biggest disappointment is that Live View is actually slower, and crashes frequently when I use my p45+ back. I was able to use Live View without problems using a 10 meter cable on both the old PB and a Mac Mini, without any repeaters or powered hubs. I switched to a 5 meter cable, but that didn't seem to help.
From what I have read, I think the problem is lack of power from the Thunderbolt port on my MB Pro, and the best fix is to use a powered Firewire hub. Has anyone tried the Belkin powered hub that is sold at a number of places? Here's a link:
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F5U526-APL ... rewire+hub
I like the fact that this hub is small and light weight, because I'll be using my MB Pro for location shooting. But I'm wondering if this inexpensive hub supplies enough power to work well. Any other recommendations for powered hubs?
Thanks!
