controls to de- saturate

am i missing something, but is there a control to reduce saturation?
the saturation slider only saturates, does go below "0".

  De-saturate - On the top left tool palette - fourth tool from the left - histogram tool.
  
  The 4th slider down is the Saturation slider. Move it left and it will de-saturate.
