Q: How do you add photos to an existing session?
I've tried googling and reading, and I get tons of leads but not an answer to my specific question:
After I import photos into my Capture One Pro Session I sometimes need to add/import additional photos. I want all the photos in one Session to compare since I'm still selecting finalists to work on. But, when I import additional photos, C1P seems to start a new session, and my existing photos disappear into a previous session. How do I add new photos to an existing Session, keeping everything together on one screen?
Thanks much for the help.

Open the session you want to use.
Start the "Import" tool and go from there.
As an alternative you can also simply copy the files from memory card to an accessible disk somewhere and then, with you session open, browse to that folder and open the files from there. It's probably a good idea to make that folder a favourite too.
If C1 is always suggesting that you need to create a new session you would probably need to tell us a little more about what happens when you start Capture One so that someone can work out what is going on.
I assume you are running as the Pro version. Pro for Sony or full Pro for anything that is supported?

Thanks for the reply. I didnt communicate well.
1) Say, I start a new Session called "Session123. "
2) Now, I import 100 photos, the import completes, and I am now working on Session123 with 100 photos in it.
3) Now, I realize I forgot a photo or whatever, and I import 1 more photo into Session123. When this second import completes, Session123 now has 1 photo in it - solely the last photo I imported (still under the Session123 name, but my original 100 photos are gone).
But, what I want is for Session123 to have 101 photos in it.
How do I add photos to an existing Session?
Probably doesn't matter, but I'm using Capture One Pro 9 (for Sony).

I would expect that if you do what Grant says, it should do what you want. I add extra photos to sessions all the time, in just that way. If that is not your experience, can you say more about how you are importing then - from a memory card, from some other folder on the computer, etc. If you look at the session folders that C1 has created using File Explorer (is that what it is called in Windows these days?) are the images there?

I was having the same problem but figured it out.
With importing additional images, C1 will put them in a new session favorites folder and will just show the content of that, just navigate back to Session Albums -> All images to find your original 100 photos plus the new ones 😊0 -
Aha!
Cheese knew my pain.
Thanks to everyone for your help!0 -
I was going to suggest 2 things - Cheese beat me to one of them.
The other is that you can specify the folder Destination to be what you like.
Personally I find a separate folder for each upload (or sometimes a "by day" folder) the most useful approach but there are other options. Many other options in fact if you look at the options for setting sub folder names using metadata derived tags.
Or you can forego the potential benefits of the Import process - like file renaming using metadata tokens or your won set of rules - and somply copy the fiels to a folder on a drive and then in C1 navigate to that folder, and start editing things. Ideally add the folder as a favourite to make it easy to find again .... but that is not a compulsory action.
It's all very flexible if you can find the time to experiment and see the results possible.
HTH.
