There's no particular advantage in getting your folder structure into user collections. If you import the folders*, you will be able to navigate them in the Folders section of the Library tool.

User collections (albums, smart albums, etc) are great for organising images in other ways than where they sit on disk. Two examples:

    (1) I have a smart album called Birds that automatically includes any image in my catalog that has Bird in the keywords.

    (2) I have a group called Holidays containing albums of images taken on various holidays - they are in all sorts of places on disk (my folders are organised by year) but that brings all the holiday photos together in one place, whatever the year.

Have you seen the webinars on the Learning Hub or the You Tube channel about catalog organisation? Try this one:

    * I saw your other thread so you may have been able to import your folders satisfactorily by now. But just in case, you can use the Import tool, go to the Picture folder, make sure that including subfolders is checked and that you choose the destination as Existing Location. (But if you have a lot, that could take a very long time and you might like to do them a bit at a time.)

Thank you Ian for the tips and the videos are very helpful.
Yes I have been able to import the folders and sub folder into Capture One Catalog from my Win 10 SSD.
As you said as you have the Folders there is no need to duplicate then in User Collections.

Impressed that Capture One works well on old jpeg files not just raw.

One question or just confirmation is that Capture One recommend all changes of location are done from within C1 so it keeps tract.

If I wish to make a new folder on my SSD drive there seems no way to do it from within C1. Have to go into Win Explorer make new directory and the back to C1 and add it to the catalog. (I see if when I'm on a directory right click gives me option to "Show in explorer" which take you to explorer and I can make folder> then close explorer> back in C1 add it.
Am I correct that this is the only and best way to do it?

The advice to do all moves etc within Capture One applies especially once things have been added to the Capture One catalog, so that it doesn't lose track of them. But there is no problem with creating a new folder using Windows Explorer then going to Capture One and adding it. Nevertheless there may be a quicker way. I'm on a Mac, but I assume the same may apply within Windows. If I click the + button in the Folders section of the Capture One Library, to add a folder, one of the things I see in the Finder window that comes up (Explorer window on a PC) is a button saying New Folder, so I could add and create one at the same time. I assume that the same may apply in Explorer?

    Brilliant!
Yes Windows is the same (top left New Folder).

Even better if I highlight the folder and right click is shows add folder and takes me straight to the folder in explorer with New Folder top left.

Now to continue my learning curve.

    Thanks again.
