Rating photos very slow due to slow rendering...

Hi,

I've a small catalog (< few thousand files), but going from photo to photo on a MBP15ret is so slow that star rating a shoot of a few 100 photos becomes a nightmare. I come from Aperture and there the previews were put up while in the background any raw rendering was being done. In CO it seems no preview is put up and I've to wait for the raw rendering to finish before I can judge a photo and move to the next one. Driving me nuts and makes this process a pain. I could do the rating in Photo Mechanic, but CO should be able to do it fast too.

Are there any options that can help me speedup the process.... If not, developers, please make this a priority.

  How long do you have to wait when jumping from one picture to an other ?
  It takes about 2 seconds on my MBP Retina 15".

  Takes about 4sec per photo. My raw's are on external USB3 drive, so that might extend the render time a bit, but it does not for Aperture as it just puts up a preview, CO should do the same as it has previews too.
