Export original from C1 to finder in Mac OS X 10.9.2

Hello forum

I have buy a second hand P45.
I use CaptureOne 7 Pro.
I use Mac OS X 10.9.2.
I'm not so familiar with C1.
I don't understand the export workflow of C1.

When I use the export originals to my desktop I see two objects.
a) CF016041.TIF
b) Folder CaptureOne with 2 objects in it.

I open in finder the info from CF016041.TIF and see:

Typ: TIFF-Bild
Size: (54,2 MB on the volume)
Size picture: 208 x 156

The Size can be or it is clear for me.
The Size picture isn't clear for me.

When I open the CF016041.TIF with Adobe Photoshop CS6 first I see a RAW import workflow with:

Adobe RGB (1998), 8 Bit, 3639 x 2731 px, 9,9 MB, 300 ppi

When I open this RAW to CS6 I see:

Adobe RGB (1998), 8 Bit, 3639 x 2731 px, 28,4 MB, 300 ppi

This picture CF016041 in C1 shows:

Adobe RGB (1998), 8 Bit, 7216 x 5412 px, 112 MB

I'm sure there is a solution for different sizes but I don't find it.

Can someone give me an explanation?

    Size picture: 208 x 156
    This is the size of the built-in JPEG of the RAW file.

    8 Bit, 7216 x 5412 px, 112 MB
    This is the real amount of pixels and image size (uncompressed, 8-bit)

    Other sizes and pixels do not make sense to me. I do not have CS6, but in CS5 camera raw screen I get the same amount of pixels as CO7.

    Questions:
    1) Why export CO7 when I use original two objects to finder?
    a) CF016041.TIF
    b) Folder CaptureOne with 2 objects in it

    2) Why is CF016041 marked as .TIF when you say it is .JPG?

    3) Why convert Photoshop CS6 RAW this CF016041.TIF to Adobe RGB (1998), 8 Bit, 3639 x 2731 px, 9,9 MB, 300 ppi?

    Maybe there some bugs in CO7 or I make a wrong workflow, I'm beginner.

    I found some minutes ago following.

    When I use export variants I see in finder
    Typ: TIFF-Bild
    Size: (117,8 MB on the volume)
    Size picture: 7216 x 5412

    This make sense for me.

    You should indeed use Export Variant, not Export Original.

    All raw files have a small Jpeg built-in for fast previewing.

    The .TIF extension of the P45 can be changed to .IIQ to prevent further confusion.

    So I summarize:
    CaptureOne 7 Pro isn't compatible with export originals and P45 files.
    I cannot read this or I don't find it in the manual or online handbook.
    Can I say it's a bug? 😉

    Export Original is doing just that, it is creating a Copy of your RAW file outside of the Catalog to the destination you are specifying. It is Exporting the Original RAW file (RAW files are not edited, only referenced).
    Export Variant is used to create a Processed file, which includes edits, of your original RAW.

    After editing an image, you should export the variant to a TIFF, JPEG or other format that meets your needs. This will include all your edits.

    If you have RAW files within your Catalog, or referenced externally and you want a copy for backup purposes (or perhaps to use in a Session workflow), you would use the Export Original option.

    Thanks for feedback.

    In which way I can export the original from CaptureOne 7 to finder and open the original with Photoshop CS6 = Adobe RAW Converter and see the same pixel size as in CaptureOne 7.

    PS: It is not a problem if the originals stored on HD and not in catalog. Maybe it's a problem if the originals stored in catalog.
    PSPS: When I don't use Capture One Pro 7 and copy a original picture from the CF-Card to the finder I get the same problem:

    Typ: TIFF-Bild
    Size: (54,2 MB on the volume)
    Size picture: 208 x 156

    When I open the picture with CS6 ACR from the CF card-reader I get the same problem:

    Adobe RGB (1998), 8 Bit, 3639 x 2731 px, 9,9 MB, 300 ppi

    The RAW file in Capture One = The RAW file in Adobe.
    Again, it is the same RAW file you are opening in each so there is no difference.

    Is what you see in Finder. Finder does not recognize the RAW file so it does not show the true dimensions. As Paul noted it only shows the dimensions of the embedded Thumbnail. Finder is certainly welcome to display the RAW but this is support out of our control.

    There is no Issue with this in regard to Catalogs as it is not something controlled by Capture One software.

    I explain the workflows with CF0160041.TIF

    A) Capture One Pro 7 is running
    The pictures stored in catalog.
    I have select above picture.
    I click on gear in tools.
    I see following infos in processing overview:

    Demand: Unknown demand
    File Name: CF0160041.tif
    Size: 24,05 x 18.04 Zoll (7216 x 5412 px)
    Scaling: 100 %
    ICC-Profil: Adobe RGB (1998)
    Format: TIFF (8 Bit)
    File Size: ~112 MB

    B) Photoshop CS 6 is running.
    I open the above picture from normal folder on HD.
    ACR starts and show a window.
    I use Format Camera Raw.
    I click open.
    I see following info beneath of picture view

    Adobe RGB (1998), 8 Bit, 3639 x 2731, 9,9 MP, 300 ppi

    When I open this RAW to CS6 I see in Menü > Picture > Picture size:

    Adobe RGB (1998), 8 Bit, 3639 Pixel x 2731 Pixel, 28,4 MB, 300 Pixel/Zoll

    There is a different between:

    7216 x 5412 px
    3639 Pixel x 2731 Pixel

    I don’t understand this.

    Maybe I'm not so familiar with digital workflow but I will learn it 😉

    You really need to be asking Adobe why the settings in their software are different for a P45+ RAW file.

    The RAW file at 100% is correct as you see in Capture One = 7216 x 5412 px
    The RAW file in ACR at 100% is approx the same = 7220 x 5433 px (Adobe PS CC / ACR 8.3)

    The 4 x 21 Pixels is just an arbitrary difference based on the extreme difference in the two RAW converters.
    The massive difference you have noted is likely due to a setting in ACR which we do not control. You may be using an image sizing constraint or have some other default setting.

    The main question I have however, is why is it you are processing the RAW to a TIFF in Capture One and then opening the RAW in ACR as appose to the already Processed TIFF?

    I import fresh original PO-RAW with ACR.
    I don't see any tool in menu to image sizing or where I can change default setting.

    As I wrote I'm beginner and I check different workflows and adjustments to learn digital workflow.

    !!! Solution !!!!!!! 😉

    I found it.
    I can click in ACR underneath of picture on the infos and than a new window open.
    There I can use 100% and than the size is correct.
