v7 and v9
Can these be run side by side? What happens to the render of files originally opened in v7, are they altered by v9? I haven't opened v9 yet, in case it disables our v7.
I have asked these q's in a support case, but hope someone here will know. Don't want years of work re-rendered by new version, even if only slightly, was very irritating to have this happen between v6 and v7 via the 'upgrade' button.
Many thanks,
Jonathan

When you open a v7 image in v9, it will be shown using the v7 engine. This is good, because the newer engines have differences in color and sharpness compared to the older ones. After upgrading the engine for an image, you may need to re-adjust your image. But you can keep the v7 version and create new variants and clones. The new ones will use the v9 engine.
Catalogs are not backwards compatible. Once upgraded, they are v9 only.

That's what I figured, thank you. Phase One tell me that I have to be careful with running these side by side, there are 'issues' I've asked for clarification on that. 0
