Does it really work well the Capture One software on an iMac?

BookPro or iMac?

  Both...
  I have a Macbook pro 13 inch with a viewsonic vp2365-led.
  So, if I need portability, I use the macbook alone.
  And when I need a decent calibrated monitor to do color management or PS retouch, I plug the viewsonic.
  So, the best of both worlds..
