Layered TIFF files are rendered very slow
Working with flattened TIFF files (50MB) is fine, but I leave the layers in, in case I need to change something later. Works fine in LR, but Capture One 9 is very slow. Takes about 7 seconds to render the files (500mb), blocking my computer (beachball symbol). I have the latest macbook pro I7 with 16 GB ram.
I have found mentions of this in the past in this forum, so that was a problem in older versions as well. There was however no solution other than "contact our support"
Happens to files from different cameras (Sony A7, D810)

Capture One has always has issues with layered TIFF files (especially with an alpha channel), and from what I can see the intent (and this is how most professionals I know and work with use the software) is that once you've wrapped the shoot, you perform your RAW adjustments and process the files... then you're done working inside of Capture One (unless you need to come back for RAW adjustments).
Many former LR/Aperture users keep trying to use Capture One as though they're still in Lightroom land, but It's important here to understand that Capture One is not Lightroom and doesn't work like Lightroom in terms of that round-trip workflow. (and likely never will).
It was never (that I can tell) intended to be used as an asset management solution, and the cataloging features are a recent add-on (that in my opinion still aren't ready for primetime). Once you've made your RAW adjustments and processed the files, generally you're working in Capture One. Working with those rasterized/pixel files is simply a job for Bridge & photoshop.
I'm certain that's not the answer you were hoping for, but it's our current reality.0 -
Thanks for your input brianmerwin, kind of what I expected. Makes it easy for me to stick with LR. There is no reason to flatten the files and to risk having to restart if my client wants to change something later (storage is cheaper than my time). Happens from time to time.

This is golden words. Layered Tiff performance is always slow in C1 unfortunately due to nature of C1 software as C1 is more RAW convertor them DAM.0
